Alex opened the door and as both she and Bobbie made to step out, they came to a startling realisation. A collection of muscular men of various races - human, orc, gargoyle, what have you - were standing in a C-shaped configuation around the door blocking their way with SWAT shields and hard rubber batons.
"Campus security!" A harsh voice yelled before the two were suddenly thrown off their feet by a magic spell.
Alex and Bobbie found they were completely unable to move, paralysed on the floor, unable to even open their mouths to protest. The security guards broke formation temporarily to allow a tall man in a hazmat suit to step between them and cast a levitation spell on the two girls. The man checked his thick rubber gloves were on tight before guiding the two floating women into the middle of the room, their bodies bobbing slightly as they floated along like balloons.
"Containment Procedure Epsilon, I think," he muttered to himself, before taking from his pocket a small rubber cube.
He muttered some incantations and cube grew into a 12x12ftx12 box into which the girls were lowered. With a tap, the box sealed and shrank back into a small rubber cube, Alex and Bobbie squished inside but completely unharmed.
The two girls could only make slight wimpering sounds in the dark as they felt themselves squashed into a tiny die-sized cube, smushed together. They could feel motion and hear muffled voices but that was all. They were completely restrained.

"Security Captain Haughton, sir!" yelled one of the campus security guards, saluting to a large rhyno-man, "we have caught two females!"
"Females?!" Haughton exclaimed, "How did two females make it into Stonewood Male Dormatory?! This is unprecidented!"
"Well we caught them sir and Containment Chief Jackson has them in his possession right now."
"When you've filed your reports and we've decided what to do with them, I'll be having a word with you about how two females made it this far into the campus!"
CC Jackson, still wearing his hazmat suit, handed over the rubber cube to the security chief who in turn dismissed the security team and called the headmaster on an outdated-looking telephone.
"Yes, females. ... Uhuh... Expulsion, right... You realise we cannot allow them to report the boy's secrets, sir? Yes. Ah, forgive me, I did forget our expulsion procedure. I'll get on it right away. Yes sir. Thank you, sir."
Chief Jackson used a pair of tongs to pick up the rubber cube and carried it personally to the Potions Department. It didn't take long for the Potions Master to create The Dip, into which Chief Jackson casually tossed the rubber cube. He grimaced as the potion sizzled and the rubber cube hissed and melted, bubbling and dissolving into the sickly green fluid, turning it tar-coloured.
"Nishvanemen!" Cried the potions master, causing the cauldron's contents to bubble violently before evaporating in a foul diesel-smelling cloud of steam. Once the steam cleared, the cauldron was clean once again.
Chief Jackson returned to his office.

Alex and Bobbie would never know what happened to them. They had felt the heat, felt their bodies melting, but that didn't matter now, they didn't remember it, and if they didn't remember it, did it really happen to them? Even so, there was no "them" to speak of. Their bodies were gone. Their memories were gone. Their minds, gone. Now, Alex and Bobbie existed only as "magic stuff."
See, you cannot "vanish" an object into nothing. There is no such thing as "nothing" in the universe. When something is vanished, it goes into a "waiting" state, ready to be reborn as something else. All the rubbish, waste, garbage, forgotten homework, or anything else students at Stonewood vanished was just floating around as particles, as "magic stuff", ready to be made into something else. This included the former students Alex and Bobbie.
It is also, of course, true that you cannot make something from nothing, as "nothing" doesn't exist. When a student conjures an animal or object or anything else, it is made of that "magic stuff." So now everything that had once been Alex or Bobbie was waiting to be conjured as a new thing. It wouldn't be fair to say they were "dead" in this way. After all, magical objects tend to develop personalities and sometimes even become animated. The substance of the two was out there somewhere, and perhaps by pure chance someone might conjure up a tea tray or condom with a glimmer of their former selves in it.
