"Fine mate. I'll come along. But only because I chose so," Glenn said defiantly. The man pays no attention, seeming to have already expected his answer, he's in the process of removing materials from his backpack.
"I think there's some spare clothing in the dressers. Wear as much as you can and follow me." He tosses him a gun. Glenn catches it as he slowly realizes he's never truly fired a gun nor has he taken notice of the voices coming from outside. Perhaps escaping wasn't as easy as he thought.
Putting on three layers of clothes and forming a ski mask with a scarf, Glenn follows the man who continues to move around frantically and stealthy as he checks the windows in the room over. The room Glenn recognizes as the one he broke into last night. He guess a bear must've followed him after he fell asleep.
"Baird LISTEN!" the man hollers getting Glenn's full attention. "I'm gonna shoot some smoke bombs onto the left and right and front side of the buildings. We'll escape from the right."
"Wait! But won't it be fucking completely full of smoke?" Glenn asks.
"Yes. But as the Bears migrate toward the back expecting us, we'll move closer to the most obvious spot they'll be leaving. Now I've given you only three tranquilizers. USE. THEM. ONLY. IN. EMERGENCIES." He says emphasizing every word. "I'll lead the way which means I expect you to follow me the whole time. I won't have time to check on you so make sure to only call me, Gin, when ABSOLUTELY needed. Is everything clear?"
The man doesn't seem to interested in Glenn's answers but he responds that he does nonetheless. After a bit more discussion, the two head toward the fire escape on the right side of the building. Quickly with good aim, Gin throws multiple bombs into the windows adjourning the building before waiting a few minutes.
"NOW! GO! GO!" Gin yells.
Glenn follows him as they slide down the stairs toward the two stories closest to the ground they jump onto the back of a truck before making their way on ground. Gin keeps Glenn silent as they wait for a bit before making their way to the front of the building before heading toward some odd direction. Glenn nearly loses Gin in the fog a few time, but he uses his powerful legs to run right back to him. Eventually they clear their way toward a truck where another man wearing layered clothing is waiting for them.
"Seems you found one Gin and actually lead him back." the man says surprised.
"Shut your fucking trap!" Gin says but he does also look surprised to see Glenn still with him. Glenn could only guess many often ended up getting caught or losing him in the smoke.
"Sup' I'm Ashton," The other man says as he gives Glenn a firm handshake. He then turns toward Gin, "Anyway I stocked up on some more food and ammunition. I'd say it's been a successful run!" the other man says giving off a cheeky smile. Gin doesn't appear amused and simply has them board the truck as they drive away at an excessive speed. The man appears to know what he's doing as he avoids any bears or obstacles in the road quickly and efficiently leaving Glenn to glance out the window to see Bears wandering through the street and fucking one another. Some take notice of the truck but give up realizing how fast they're going. Glenn also takes notice of the children wandering in the city. Apparently they're immune to the virus and most surviving adults and even the bears take care of them giving them food or water while they take refuge in abandoned schools. Glenn looks away from the messy streets to focus on his current passengers.
"So ... Gin?" Glenn says apprehensively. "How'd you know where to rescue me?"
Gin only glances at Glenn then stares back at the road before responding. "Overheard a bear talking about you and how his friend managed to capture you in the West Apartment Complex. Figured it was worth a shot rescuing you. You'd be surprised how easy this virus transmits. Not many adult survivors are often found nor make their way back."
"Wait. How is the virus so easy to spread? I thought it only spread from sex?" Glenn asked him.
"Apparently you just need some sort of intimate contact with a bear. It could be a kiss or oral. But most bears prefer to transform their victims slowly while having sex with them as they transform. Either way once they've got you under their spell, you begin to transform. And Once you cum, it's game over." the man says and although the line sounds a bit humorous, no one laughs.
"Where are we headed?" Glenn asks them after a few minutes pass.
"We're close to our base. Now we have to ask you a quick question. Inside our base you're immediately placed into one of our three factions. The largest is Faction A, they hunt for supplies and survivors, like we do, it's the most dangerous yet the most efficient and necessary. Faction B is made of survivors that have professions or trades so they mostly help around securing or aiding the survivors in the base. Mostly they're working jointly to plan an escape route. Currently the entire city is walled in and nobody is allowed to leave so progress is small and difficult. Faction C are mostly composed of researchers seeking a cure. Apparently once they find the original escaped test subje- I mean the original host of the virus, they can create an antidote. However, it's considered to be nearly impossible but I mean it could help end the entire outbreak," Ashton spout, happy to have a reason to talk.
Meanwhile Gin just focuses on the road where they're approaching a gated community. He turns around to face Glenn and asks him "So which group do you want to be in?"
