The Magic Shop

Lets try this again

Authors note: Perhaps I reacted a bit harshly before. You need to understand though that everything I've written on this site I care very deeply about. I've enjoyed crafting my stories and characters for several years and when I read the first chapter I immediately got excited that someone was paying close attention and cared enough about the material to base a story around it. I guess what I'm saying is I let my temper get the best of me. So with that being said, let's try a different approach.

Darren now blinked, his vision blurry as he tried to adjust to his environment. With everything that had transpired between the Normal, Evan, and the re-emergence of Morgan Carlson the teenage boy was feeling a bit stretched. What he hadn't counted on was Yuriko asking him to venture into the past.

A recent call with Morgan's old apprentice Angelica had left the future owner of the Magic Shop puzzled. Something had transpired transforming the sorceress onto a goblin. What was stranger was everyone remembering Angelica as human. Darren now curiously gazed around goblin town, before glancing at his two companions. "Where are we?"

"Goblin town," Fukushu said softly. Darren wrinkled his nose, the smell of compost was somewhat overwhelming. "Why did Yuriko ask us to come here?"

Fukushu shrugged, glancing at Abolith and Darren before gazing out at the town. Honestly, he wasn't sure why Yuriko had directed them into the past. The kitsune remembered the goblin daughter of Jackie, having battled the girl on several occasions. When Yuriko stated that it seemed wrong, he was at first puzzled before becoming enraged.

Fukushu was not a fan of reality alteration, especially when it affected him. Unfortunately for the nine tailed kitsune he, as well as Abolith and Darren weren't immune from such spells. Fukushu didn't like having his perception toyed with, if something had occurred to alter it he would discover it for himself. "Your teacher believes that someone has altered history," he stated. "She, along with a select few others are immune to such reality alterations. That is how we have found ourselves here."

Darren simply nodded, gazing out at the goblins going about their business. At first they weren't noticed, the goblins going about their daily tasks and paying the human nor his companions any mind. That, however, would not last.

Darren spotted a pair of goblins talking on what appeared to be cellphones. As the duo looked first to Darren, then Abolith and Fukushu, they gasped in fright. Colliding humorously with one another the two goblins sprinted in the opposite direction. Their panic though spread like wildfire.

Darren watched as the goblins now shrieked in terror, sprinting away from the kitsune and elf assassin. Goblins now ran into stores slamming the doors behind them, goblins dove into alleyways, hiding behind piles of garbage, goblins even tire open manhole covers diving into the muck of the sewers to escape Abolith and Fukushu.

"It appears our reputation proceeds us beloved," Abolith smirked, the assassin lowering her veil.

"They're terrified of you two," Darren whispered.

"As well they should be Catalyst," Fukushu replied. "Befire we met I was one of the most feared individuals in all the realms. Now, in the past, these goins do not know that I am striving to better myself. They only see the monster, which could work to my advantage."

"You're not going to kill them are you," Darren asked. Fukushu furrowed his brow, despite warming to this newest Catalyst he was still the same vicious warrior that had fought creatures both nig and small. "I wasn't planning on it," he grumbled. "However, they don't need to know that."

"Where shall we begin beloved," Abolith asked. Fukushu shrugged, scanning the now deserted streets. :I am not quite sure."

"Fukushu," Darren asked. "Yuriko said something about someone being transformed in the past. Do I need to worry about that?"

"I doubt you do," Fukushu stated. "The rings you possess should protect you, as well as the Dragons Tongue. Also those items Yuriko gave us before we left should offer protection against any form of transmutation. Whether it be mystical or otherwise."

"Just be wary though," Abolith stated. "Goblins are far smarter than many give them credit for. They may not possess magic but their engineering and ingenuity are second to none."

Darren nodded, the trio now setting forth to find out what happened, and to make sure Angelica's mother was okay.
