Jennifer had been hoping that it would be cooler in the large hallway. But the moment she stepped in, the size of the crowd around her made her suddenly feel an overwhelming sensation of heat and claustrophobia.
"To hell with it," she said. Tentatively, she reached for the collar of her cheerleading top, then glanced around quickly. Nobody seemed to notice.
Jennifer took a deep breath and with one sudden movement wrenched it off. The moment she did it, she nearly lost it again, but a quick look around showed that nobody thought that this was unusual of her.
Sighing in resignation, she pulled off the rest of her clothing as quickly as she could. Almost instantly, she felt gratifyingly cool. "I guess this isn't so baaad," she muttered.
Picking up her bundle of clothes, Jennifer moved towards her locker and glanced around. As she did, she wondered if people thought it was unusual for a sheep-girl to walk among them. Her friend Liz hadn't acted that way, but then, Liz would have known her all her life as a sheep-girl. Jennifer Smith wondered...
Her thoughts were suddenly cut short by a blood-curdling sight. For a split seconds, on the opposite side of the crowd, she saw Kyle Perkins staring at her. He was smiling.
That twisted creep.
And then he had disappeared into the crowd and Jennifer realised that there was no point trying to catch up with him. She'd just wait through class and then talk to Liz when there was time. As such, she took a deep breath and opened her locker...
