Kim let out a loud yawn. The sun was starting to set, and her transformation had apparently taken a lot out of her.
"How long is it to the next town?" Kim grumbled. The itchy fur growing under her clothes was extremely annoying.
Jennifer consulted her maps. "About half a day. Although considering your condition, we might need to pull an all-nighter."
"No way! I'm beat, you and Jamie are both hungry, the horses need rest, the roads are dangerous at night, the..."
Jennifer relented. "Alright, alright. Yeesh. I'm supposed to the reasonable one. Are you sure you'll be okay?"
Her cavalier friend rolled her eyes. "I'm fine. Besides, I've been in way more danger than this."
Jen sighed. Underneath the bravado, she could tell her friend was worried. Unfortunately, she knew how pig-headed Kim could get, so there was no chance she was winning this argument.
"I'll take first watch. Just, if anything gets worse, let me know, and we'll get a move on ASAP."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." The rogue flashed a toothy grin, and headed back to the caravan for some much needed rest.
Kim ducked into her tent, ready for some sleep. She changed into her nightgown, enjoying the loose fit compared to her stuffy clothes, and clambered into her cot.
Kim quickly dozed off, all of her worries melting away. Unfortunately, as the moon beamed down on her tent, something else began to wake inside Kim.
It tore off the bedding, ripping off the piece of fabric it no longer recognized as her nightgown. Why would it need something like that, when going naked was so much easier? Without Kim realizing, the changes had nearly finished. It was covered in thick brown fur, and a thick prehensile tail rested above her butt, even longer than her arms. It shifted into a crouching position, perched on what it no longer recognized as her bed. It shook its head, feeling the last of the changes conclude as her face pushed out into a monkey's muzzle. As her brown eyes morphed to a simian yellow, it leapt off the bed, letting out an "Ook Ook!" as it landed on all fours, eager to explore. Despite the creature's human size, there was no denying what it was. Kim was gone. Only a monkey remained.
