Phil and Dawn met on a business trip a few years ago and hit off. They both realized they lived in the same city and began to see each other almost every day. After a couple of years of dating, Phil proposed. Dawn was so excited to finally have met the right guy. Soon after the wedding, Dawn began to talk about having a child. Phil hid his most controversial secret from her for the entirety of the relationship—he never wanted kids. In fact, he hated the very thought of being a father. He could never tell his wife—it would destroy her. He would do anything to make her happy even if it included giving her the child she so desperately wanted. They tried for months and one day she came running up to him with glee. “Look! It’s positive!” exclaimed Dawn with tears of joy. “That’s wonderful sweetheart, you’ll make a great mother” said Phil. He held back his anger as he cheered on his wife. Over the next nine months her belly grew to term. Her breasts filled with nourishment as her curves became larger to prepare for the birth of their child. Her due date was coming up in a few days. She couldn’t wait to welcome their baby into the world. Phil, on the other hand was sick even looking at her. He knew that soon enough he would be getting little sleep as the baby would cry through all hours of the night. He hated himself for allowing his conscious to make her happy at the cost of his own. “Why did I have to go through with it?” Phil asked as he stared himself in the mirror. “I wish that she never was pregnant, that there was no baby!” He say there and thought about how awful he felt saying what he said. At least she was asleep in the next room and couldn’t hear his emotional remark. “Guess I’ll just have to prepare myself for the worst 18 years of my life” and with that Phil went off to bed with his heavily pregnant wife.
