Damon's face started to feel funny. He tried to open his mouth to say something, and then he realized he couldn't. He reached up to try to feel what was wrong, but at first, everything seemed normal. He thought his lips felt the same as always until he realized he couldn't find the crease that would separate them. Then, his undivided lips shrunk and he couldn't even feel them at all anymore! He tried to open his mouth again, but this time, not even his jaw lowered to allow the attempt. His tongue stopped moving around in his mouth, and before much longer, he found that he couldn't even feel that he had a mouth cavity at all. Any sign that a mouth had ever been there was simply gone. He tried to shout in spite of this, only to find that he no longer had vocal cords in his throat.
"There, that should silence your insolent complaints," said the genie prince.
"Prince Abezekir, surely you, in your royal wisdom, would see that he cannot remain that way. I beg you to reconsider. Without a mouth, how will this poor man consume food and liquid to sustain himself? He would not survive," said Jenaela.
"These humans do not often survive more than a single century in any case. I do not tolerate insolence from his kind, and you think I will tolerate any further insubordination on your part, you are mistaken. However, in the interest of royal justice, I suppose I should at least provide him with some anatomical means to continue his natural lifespan."
The magics came back into Damon's body, but they didn't center around his face this time. Instead, he felt the uneasy tingling of change inn his midsection. Right under his ribs, a burgeoning hardness formed. Underneath it formed another, until Damon felt as though he had two strange bones near the top of his abdomen. Between them, some sort of internal opening was created, which slowly filled with fluids and became moist. When it could contain these fluids no longer, some strange new muscles took action and forced the fluid out through the back of the chamber. A horizontal redness formed there, near the border region between his chest and his belly, and even as Damon watched, this redness rapidly took the form of a pair of lips, complete with a crease in between. To his shock, Damon realized he could separate them, and when he did so, he saw an open mouth on his belly! It had its own teeth and a tongue that he could stick out as he pleased. He was not sure he could ever be alright with feeling such things in his stomach region.
Damon tried to speak, but he could not, nor could he even breathe in or out of his new mouth. Embarrassingly, he did discover that he could burp. The genie prince laughed at the unexpected croaking sound which echoed out from Damon's abdominal opening. His new mouth was apparently unconnected to his lungs, but at least he could be sure it was connected to his stomach, which was so close to it that his burp didn't have very far to travel. Perhaps an advantage was that he might not be able to choke, but surely he would be a freak! Would he ever eat or drink with another person again?
"There, no you both have something to remind you not to anger a genie prince. It is time for me to take my leave. I have an urgent appointment with the Federal Chancelor of the Union of the Gnomish Kingdoms. Farewell." And with that, Abezekir was gone.
