Once home, Marcus and Chloe quickly put away their things and opened the game. Marcus read the back of the box aloud: "The Game of Change is a magical game. Change your look, change your life! Magical fun for the whole family."
"Not very descriptive," Chloe said.
"Well, maybe the instructions will be helpful."
The two set up the game according to the instructions. Marcus laid out the game board with its twisty, tiled track. Chloe unwrapped the two card decks, mental and physical, and set them in their respective places on the edge of the board. Then she pulled out the dice and two player pieces. "Look, they even look like us," she joked.
Marcus eyed them closer. "Yeah, they do. Weird."
With the game set up, Marcus looked at the instructions. "So, it likes once you start, you can't stop until someone wins. Then the winner gets one wish at the end. Otherwise, it's a simple board game. You roll dice, move spaces and draw cards."
"Okay then," Chloe said, "shall we start?"
"Yup. Who goes first?"
