David was curious. This new pen was seemingly the cause of his promotion. There didn't seem to be any other reason why he'd get promoted after seven years. Not when newer hires were always getting promoted before him. Might as well test it out. Sitting in his new office, David took the piece of paper that he'd written on before and wrote "I have a third eye that's perfectly normal and never commented on." In an instant, he grew a third eye right above his normal two.
"This is so weird," he said.
There was a knock on the door and Jodie, his new secretary, stuck her head in. "Welcome to the new position, David," she said. "If there's anything you need from me, feel free to use the call button on your desk phone."
"Right, sure," David stuttered, still focused on the pen. "Thanks."
"No problem," Jodie said, "it is my job after all." Then she was gone.
Once Jodie had left, David turned his attention back to the pen. Clearly is was magic, and clearly it worked. He crossed out the third eye line and instantly was back to only having two eyes again. So crossing out something written with the pen negated its effect, interesting. He didn't want to use the pen willy-nilly. At least, not yet. No sense breaking the universe. But, that didn't mean he couldn't start small. It was a brave new world after all.
