Writing was strangely indulgent. I took a pencil and thought about changing the overall description of discrimination. Strike out this 'un', add a little down-caret and pencil in a 'not'...and the writing adjusted. The removal cleared away and the insertion converted to the golden of the book rewriting, sliding into place as expected before fading to black in the expected print.
"In many modern cultures, homosexuality is viewed as natural, and gay individuals are not discriminated against by society, whether legally, socially, or interpersonally."
Existence seemed to blur for a moment, splitting memories into an additional tree-like feeling of subtle changes for what had happened instead of anything homophobic (mostly barely memorable mundane things and my landlord being casually bisexual). Homophobia was now a mostly-historical afterthought, so I had ended up out to my family a while back. A lot of my being a wallflower wasn't really changed. But still, it worked! A bit of checking about the Internet showed that a lot of hate groups had lost momentum and disbanded generations ago, and that laws were generally less discriminatory in general. There was still pride and all that, but for the most part people didn't care about actively opposing it anymore. The upcoming Human Sexuality course was a bit less politically charged and a bit more globally anthropological.
Greed and lust inexplicably hit me like a truck, quashing many philosophical questions under a miracle and ethics under being horny.
"Can I change anything?" I asked the book.
"Regarding this universe, yes to the extent expressible while accessing this book. Expression methods confirmed viable include language, mind reading, technology, and transformative magic." the book wrote out. "Retain access to the book to maintain change capabilities."
Well. Don't want to lose it, then. Pencil at the ready, I wavered briefly before offering "Show me how to retain access?"
The book wrote out "Writing a rule change supernaturally mandating access to the book will preserve access with reduced vulnerability to external interference." Bit technical of it, but workable.
I wrote in "Jason Gray always has access to this book, and can write in it whenever he wants to."
The text adapted, filling in a few miscellaneous details about how the book can teleport and how writing utensils will be provided, specifying me instead of a bunch of other Jason Grays (Jasons Gray?). The rules of the universe were mine! It was definitely going to my head.
"Show me information about being gay." I said, watching the pages fill up with varying aspects of male attraction to males and masculinity.
I found a line about unreciprocated attractions to straight men and started inserting an obtuse fantasy where men could have any men they wanted enough, while keeping the indecency a for-fun thing. I adjusted exact wording along the way, shuffling tidbits of my original content around and following the book's advice. I got distracted and eventually wrapped around to addressing a few background problems indirectly. It wasn't quite porn logic everywhere all the time, but it covered a few basic 'fuck that' things and meant things could go porn logic most of the time trivially. I decided to set things on a course toward resolving a lot of human ills like hunger and injury.
Eventually I kludged together a summary about what I had changed past the okay-to-be-gay thing. First, the whole 'okay the world can fix itself', but recently enough it doesn't shake up human history too bad we're just handwaving it going forward...but also sexy.
"It was recently discovered that human sexual fluids have near-universally become nutritious and promote regeneration, an unexplained adaptation which wiped out sexually-transmitted diseases in the past generation. This effect is especially effective for injuries that would not otherwise heal or are age-related degeneration. This is in blatant defiance of the current otherwise-active physical laws such that self-sustenance by ejaculation is possible. New technologies were also discovered to exploit physics-defying sexual activity to solve problems around the world by perpetual motion byproducts."
Then the blatant for-fun stuff, which zig-zagged from 'okay just make everyone more physically fuckable' to 'now it's fine to ask and they'll find it fine' into 'okay, porn logic after all but we'll keep the initiators to a few contexts I find hot so it usually doesn't overwhelm everything else'.
"Human anuses are self-lubricating and self-cleansing when aroused, and can be stretched rapidly without harm to accommodate large insertions. Males who are sexually attracted to men are able to easily convince men to have consensual sex with other nearby men. This includes requesting sexual services for themselves, and to start masturbation with a simple verbal request (i.e. 'go fuck yourself'). Consensual non-reproductive sex and public masturbation are inoffensive recreational activities, especially for and between men. Public nudity is acceptable and at most mildly embarrassing, but potentially more accepted than being excessively unkempt. Male prostitution offers professionalism, with paid sex between males and pornographic art offering niche roleplaying, unusual scenarios, or longer durations. In the present and recent past, homophobic or otherwise discriminatory comments are socially accepted cause for a male-attracted male to immediately order a sexual activity be performed, which is obeyed. Sexual harassment by men also prompts other men to temporarily behave exceptionally sexually toward them in an act of recompense."
I had made a few minor other alterations along the way, mostly handling edge cases before it all took effect, but that caught the whole mess of it. Then the last few bits finally sorted their way into my memory as the world was altered, the past several years having become a sexual revolution in both society and science.
That retroactively obliterated my virginity. In a confusing mind-blowing sensation, I was hit by memories of a lot of 'straight crush banging', a social practice where attractive heterosexual men satisfied the sexual desires of the occasional gay or bi acquaintance run wild and treated it like any other topic of conversation or friendly hanging out. Attractive celebrities tended to get laid fairly regularly if someone gay or bi was on a talk show or whatever. Weird new sexual and body-alteration technology became a thing (and apparently wizards were like, real and forced into the open by all this?), but it was basically a footnote in the revolution. One suspiciously tied to stuff the book had suggested or elaborated on its own interpretations of, for that matter. The Internet was abuzz with news, not much of it relevant, and abuzz with porn, much of it even more overt than I remembered twice.
Welp, world saved, shiny new human sexuality textbook randomly lying around under the reality-warping tome. The class it was for apparently included a lot more practical applications, seeing as the sex itself was a lot more casually observable. Time to enjoy the fruits of my on-demand sexual fantasy, for the subjective first time and not just in memory.
