"I want to become human and you become a dragon. You be the pet and I your owner."
"Sure," grins Max, "Not that I have a say in it."
"Good boy," replies Coal.
"So do you want to alter reality so my parents think you've always been their son?"
"Nah," grins Coal, "I want your parents and friends, classmates and teachers to know we willingly swapped. But accept it regardless."
"Uh...," Replies Max immediately regretting his decision.
"It's not like you have a choice," laughs the dragon.
Max sighs, nods his head and enters the details. "You sure about this Coal?" He asks one last time, "Definitely." Max presses enter.
Max immediately goes lightheaded and weak. His body becomes heavier and his legs begin to give way. He looks at the gleeful eyes of his pet dragon, those lizard eyes hiding very little. Coal may be loyal, but he is still the intelligent and cunning creature that is a dragon. Coal had deceived Max plenty of times before, thus creating a healthy respect for the reptile. But this was the first time Max had seen such a look in Coal. One of outright deviousness, no remorse, and partial sadism. Max passes out staring into the thin black slits that will become his.
"Wake up sleepyhead," Max hears in his voice, but not exactly. He looks up to find his body staring down at him, grinning. "How you feeling boy?" Coal asks.
"Tired, and a bit lethargic," replies Max.
"Well duh. You need some warmth. Come over to the window."
Max slowly stood up on all fours, "Wow. This feels weird."
"I could say the same thing about being bipedal." Max arrives at the window and lays down in the sunlight. "Should take about ten minutes," says Coal. The human turned dragon relaxes in the sun as he feels his energy rise with each passing second.
Ten minutes pass and Coal walks back in to see Max staring at his reflection in the window. "I'm you... really you....a cute little dragon."
"Yep. And I'm really you. A cute little human."
