As the family of three sat down at their patio table to enjoy dinner, Carl romped off into the yard after a butterfly, taking in all the canine sensations he could. He knew his time as a dog was almost up, and he found himself wishing Adam had set the time limit for longer, or maybe... indefinite? No, there were too many other things to try, a whole world of changes they had yet to explore! But so far, Coral/Carl really felt that being a well-loved and cared-for puppy was far-and-away better than life as a girl or boy had ever been. Maybe he could convince Adam to turn him into another animal, for more than ten minutes next time?
A sudden tingling sensation caused his fur to stand on end, and Carl hid himself behind a bush by the back gate, not knowing how the changes would work if he was in view of their parents. He flexed his claws into the damp earth one last time as the pleasurable flush raced down his spine, followed by a reverse sensation as his tail shrank back into it. His legs lengthened as his hands and feet shortened, fingers and toes returning to their human proportions. Carl was slightly dismayed as he watched his muzzle sink back into his face and felt his sensitive ears slide back down to the sides of his head, sure he was going to miss the heightened senses he had only just begun to explore.
With a soft swish against his skin, he felt his fur lift up and reform into clothing, sliding down his head as his long brown hair grew back out. Looking down at his human form, everything seemed to be in place: green t-shirt, jeans, sneakers... there was nothing left to do but rejoin his family.
"Oh Carl!" his mother said as he stepped out from behind the bush. "How was dinner at Denny's house? It was so nice of them to invite you over before school resumed." Apparently she believed he'd just returned from a friend's house through the back gate. Adam smirked at him, rolling his eyes at their parent's ignorance. "are you still hungry? We have another burger inside and I could fix you a plate!"
Carl mounted the steps and took a seat beside his little brother. "Nah, I'm fine mum, I ate plenty - still stuffed!" he patted his stomach, guessing that the kibble had somehow transformed as well to fill him up and match their new reality.
