"What do you say we watch a movie tonight boys? There're a couple I've been wanting to show you - how about... Star Wars? Indiana Jones?" Joe wiped his hands on his napkin as he glanced between his sons, hoping to entice them into watching some of his favorites now that Adam was old enough to enjoy what he could understand.
Katherine picked at her last few fries "Indiana Jones might be a little scary for Adam, honey. How about The Land Before Time or something like that? You know he loves dinosaurs..."
"Muummm, no! I want to see the Star Wars movie! I'm not too little!" Adam said, pushing his plate away.
Katherine looked over what he'd consumed, spying only a bit of burger left and most of the greens. "If you finish your salad, darling, I guess that would mean you're grown-up enough to watch Star Wars." she smiled at her husband, knowing that he was anxious to indoctrinate their children into his sci-fi favorites.
Adam inhaled his salad in four bites, chewing rapidly since he was excited for a movie night with his dad and older brother. He gathered up his [almost] empty plate, silverware and napkin and headed for the door, stumbling for a second as he experienced a axis-tilting moment of deja vu: He'd been about 8 years old when his father had first shown him Star Wars: Episode 4... he'd loved it, and was right now feeling the same excitement he'd felt upon his first watching!
Carl gently bumped his brother where he'd frozen on the back step. "Okay, Adam? Do you need help clearing your plate?" he shot his brother a LOOK, jarring him back into action. Carl had seen Star Wars on the screen since he was little, but at the same time he remembered their Da setting up a special movie night for him just a couple of years ago, a bowl of popcorn between them as his eyes were opened to the movie-magic of 'a Galaxy, far, far away.'
