Sam set about her duty of inspecting all the goods being sold to the caravan. One man was offering up a mister of perfume, claiming it worked as the ultimate in allure. Sam highly doubted that was true, never really having been one to care for perfume, but figured she might at least be able to tell if it smelled good enough to be worth anything. So, she took it, pointed it towards her face, and gave it an experimental spray.
The smell was rather strong. She had to close her eyes and waft it away honestly. There was no way the caravan would want it. As she opened her eyes however, she suddenly realized that the man trying to sell it was the most jaw-droppingly handsome man she'd ever seen. Sam had never even been interested in men before, but now she couldn't help herself. She tossed the perfume aside and tackled him, running her hands up and down his back and kissing him passionately. It took all her willpower not to rip off both their clothes right then and there in front of everyone, but he managed to drag her to the privacy of his tent before she was able to toss away more than their shirts.
The two made absolutely passionate love that whole night. And the next. And the next. Every day Sam simply lived to worship the body of this perfect man. By the next full moon, she nearly forgot her medicine, and by the following month, the two were wed. Sam spent a lifetime showering her husband with affection, and the two went on to raise seven daughters and three sons. Most of them reminding Sam of her darling husband, and none inheriting her bright red hair.
Years passed, and sadly, shortly after the birth of their fourth grandchild, Sam's husband passed away, taken by an illness for which they could find no cure. She was beside herself for grief for several days, contemplating suicide to continue to be with him in the beyond, but eventually, enough time finally passed without exposure to him that the love potion that had ruled her mind for decades finally lost its power. For the first time in decades, she thought about how she'd come to live here in this village, and the strange circumstances that had preceded.
