"Okay let me get this straight," Amara groaned. "So, the person that knows anything about Miranda's magic is a comic book geek? And now she's going to teach her?!"
"Well I'm also a wizard," Naomi shrugged. "So don't know why you gotta be such a buzzkill." Amara sighed, she and Miranda had been having a pleasant evening. The two teens had bonded over this haunted house project, getting to know one another and growing closer. This had given the nightmare demon a moment of happiness, something she had sorely been lacking in her life. As she was about to say something, she paused as the three Harris children now glared at her.
"Um are these kids feral or something," she asked, noting the preschooler and toddler twins were now growling. Studying the children she now gasped as they began to transform.
Kari and her siblings bodies began to change. The kitsune preschoolers body now growing black fur, a muzzle forming as her ears shifted to the top of her head while a black fox tail now appeared behind her. The twins too now grew brown fur, their faces becoming a hybrid of vulpine and feline features. Amara gasped, her eyes growing wide as she recognized what Kari was. "Holy shit is that a kitsune?!"
Naomi and Diane frowned, after being around magic for as long as they had they had learned two things. One, not alot of people knew what a kitsune was. Those that did were usually supernatural in nature. Second, Naomi's nieces and nephew wouldn't respond in this manner unless they sensed negative energy. Slowly she now stepped in front of the children. "Okay who are you?'
Amara fidgeted nervously, her eyes growing wide as she gazed at the older teen. Naomi's face had gone from sunny to serious instantly. The college girl now giving her a critical look. "Um I'm a friend of Miranda's," she said nervously.
Naomi said nothing, still studying the teen carefully. "You're lying," she said softly. "Diane."
Diane stepped forward, raising a hand as she glared at Amara. "Reveal!"
Amara grunted, the teens face wincing as Dianes spell washed over. Miranda, Nat, and Rei now staring in shock as the nightmare demon began to transform.
Amaras face became more feral, her eyes growing wider, taking on cat like proportions as her mouth spread wider, needle like teeth replacing her previous human ones. Finally a small set of horns grew from her forehead. As the changes completed Nat and the others beheld Amara's true appearance. Amara still appeared mostly human with flesh colored tones, it was her face and horns though that gave away her true heritage, a face that was exaggerated with feline features.
"Babe she's a demon," Diane stated, the raven haired woman now prepping a spell. Amara's eyes going wide as she now backtracked. The demon cursing her luck as a pair of wizards and three supernatural children glared at her. Naomi now looked towards Miranda and the others, a curious look on her face. "Did you guys know she was a demon?"
"It's complicated," Miranda stated, slowly stepping in front of Amara. The teen now reached back, taking Amaras hand in her own and squeezing it tightly.
Naomi now raised an eyebrow, the tip of her wand glowing brightly. "Um can you move please," she asked. "Its kind of hard to take out a demon when you're standing in front of her."
"She's a friend," Miranda blushed. "My...um....girlfriend."
"Girlfriend," Naomi exclaimed. "Seriously?! You're dating a demon? You do know they're like the bad guys right?"
"Shes different," Miranda stated. "She's special so can you please put your wand down."
Naomi paused, appearing flummoxed as she gazed at the two teens. "Diane what do you think?"
"I think we're dealing with another Duke situation," she said. "If these three vouch for her than she should be okay." Diane and Naomi now glanced towards Nat, Rei, and Miranda, their eyes looking for confirmation that Amara could be trusted.
"Amara is with us," Nat sighed.
"Yeah we can vouch for her," Rei added. "Ugh I can't believe I'm calling her a friend." Amara frowned, appreciating Nat and Rei speaking up for her, just wishing they had been a bit more enthusiastic with that support when two wizards were trying to destroy her.
"Okay," Naomi said softly as she lowered her wand. "Diane, she's okay. Let's relax and talk with these two." Diane nodded, her spell dissipating, causing Amara to breath a sigh of relief. Slowly the demon now turned to Nat and Rei, offering the pair a meek thank you.
Miranda now turned to face Amara, both teens cheeks flushing crimson. Miranda now reached up, touching Amaras horns as the demon shyly averted her eyes. "So this is what you look like?"
"Yeah," Amara said softly. "I know, kinda ugly."
"Not really," Miranda smirked. "The horns are kinda cool. Intimidating but cool."
Amara smiled, giving Miranda a meek look before looking towards the ground. "Thanks for looking out for me," she said softly. "And for calling me your girlfriend."
"Welcome," Miranda blushed. The two teens sharing a shy and awkward moment as they thought of what would be next for the two of them.
