Jeff searched the room one last time for a place to hide. Lo and behold, the answer was right in front of him. There were cubbies that lined one wall. In each, there was a plastic bin that contained various toys. One bin however, was empty. All he had to do was hop into it, and neither Renny nor Luke would notice him. He pulled it out slightly, and climbed inside. It was a little cramped, and the walls were a foggy clear that made seeing out them hard, however he’d be safe. The teddy-boy waited inside, until he heard something.
“Jeff! Come see Renny!” Jane called.
The teddy-boy could barely see the silhouette of his mother holding a small child’s hand. The little one giggled, and waddled away from the mother.
“Jeff!” Jane called once more, “Renny wan’t to play!”
The teddy-boy didn’t respond or even move. He knew any motion had the chance of giving him away. Eventually, the sound of a door closing reached Jeff, along with the sight of his mother’s silhouette disappearing. He thought it was safe, so he peeked his head up over the plastic wall. There, he saw a toddler girl waddling around. It must’ve been Renny. She had brown hair done up in pigtails, and donned a green skirt with blue t-shirt. She wandered around in search of something. The teddy-boy didn’t know what it was, but she was enthusiastic about it. The smile on her face said it all.
“Where teddy?” the girl asked, still smiling.
Then, she looked over towards the cubbies, and saw Jeff’s head poking up out of the bin. He was so focused on Renny’s activity, that he didn’t realize the danger he just put himself in. Immediately, his head zipped downwards, and he prayed that she hadn’t seen him. The girl waddled towards the teddy-boy’s hiding spot, her silhouette now incredibly clear. She looked inside the bin and saw the pink teddy bear staring at her.
“Teddy!” she gleefully exclaimed, as she wrapped her fingers around Jeff’s torso.
“Don’t touch me!” the teddy-boy tried to yell, but went unheard.
Renny lifted Jeff out of the bin, and brought him in for a hug. He tried to writhe out of it, but his captor, although young, didn’t drop him.
“Heehee,” the girl giggled, “Wiggly teddy!”
The teddy-boy groaned. This was going to be a long day.
