The exact phrasing Finn had used was "Jeff has a long-term boyfriend who plays on the football team with him. They love each other dearly and are completely open about it. They are completely unaware that they've changed. Jeff does not remember who Finn used to be." Finn, in his anger, felt that was sufficient for Jeff to move on without him. What Finn had not counted on was the Chronivac taking Jeff's preferences into account. When Jeff said, "I want you", the Chronivac used that as the starting line.
Jeff and Finn continued to cry, Jeff out of desperation and Finn out of dejection. Jeff's beefy arms were wrapped around Finn tightly. But even Jeff's tight grip couldn't prevent Finn's muscles from growing larger with every breath. His back grew larger and larger while his shoulders began to push Jeff's hands apart. Finn's legs grew longer and thicker, sliding along the ground but not actually making any sound, strangely enough. His pants began to shrink. Or, rather, they were shifting into athletic shorts that showed off some now incredibly powerful strong legs.
Finn grasped Jeff tightly now. His arms blossomed when he did. They filled out and began to strain the sleeves of his t-shirt just before it turned into a tanktop. His pecs pushed up and inflated, meeting Jeff's. Jeff shifted a little to sit on Finn's lap as they hugged. Finn's torso extended upward, becoming taller than Jeff's. Jeff went from leaning down with his muzzle and chin resting on Finn's shoulder to nuzzling beneath Finn's muzzle. Finn's tail grew longer and a little bushier to match his new size. He was now roughly the same weight as Jeff, albeit taller by a few inches.
Finn opened his eyes and gazed down and was momentarily astonished by the sudden change in his body. But he realized that Jeff was still sobbing and felt a rush of worry flow through him. Any thoughts that he himself had changed vanished from his mind. He was worried about his boyfriend.
"J-Jeff," Finn stammered. His voice was just a touch deeper, too.
"Don't make me forget you, please," Jeff cried. "I love you so much."
"I..." Finn faltered. He could faintly remember trying to get Jeff to have another boyfriend out of spite or something. But he couldn't really fathom why anymore. He loved Jeff immensely. "I'll fix it." He whipped out his phone and started typing, ignoring the last statements. "Jeff and Finn will always remember and love each other as they are now, regardless of whatever future changes happen." He pressed Submit.
"Hey, it's done," Finn said, offering the phone to Jeff. He didn't expect to feel anything. But he did feel a little relieved. He never wanted to lose Jeff now. What had he been thinking?
Jeff turned to look at it and smiled. He wiped his eyes. "Always love each other, huh?"
Finn smiled. "I mean, yeah, is that okay?" They've been together since freshman year in high school after all. That had to be roughly six years ago now.
"Yeah," Jeff said with a big smile. He leaned against Finn. "I'm sorry for changing you with that thing. I swear I'll never use it again."
"Hey," Finn said with a smile. Jeff looked up at him. Finn flexed his large arms. "You did say that I wouldn't complain about what you did, and you're right. I just... maybe being a burly fox is all I've ever known, and I was afraid that you changed me into your ideal man because I wasn't good enough for you, that you only liked me for my body."
"Never ever have I thought that," Jeff said, pulling Finn's face into his hands. "When I became this tiger, I suddenly went from being this geeky kid with a football star boyfriend to being a football star with his teammate as his boyfriend. I just, I was afraid that your type was someone smaller than you and human. So I beefed you up and turned you into this fox."
Finn smiled softly and kissed Jeff's forehead. "I think we just both learned not to use magic computer programs when we are afraid and second guess how much the other values us." He leaned against Jeff. "I love you, Jeff."
"I love you, too."
"So then," Finn said with a smile, "what do you say we pick up that game where we left off?"
Jeff grinned. "Sounds good." He winked. "Can't wait to win."
"What were the stakes again?"
"Whoever wins, tops tonight," Jeff answered. "Can't wait to destroy that ass later."
"Who says that you'll win, pussycat?" Finn joked. "I bet you'll just love bottoming." He gestured to the field. "I'll be down shortly. Just have to input the change without your prying eyes nearby." Jeff blew a raspberry at him before walking away.
Finn took a deep breath. Crisis averted, and lesson learned. He looked back down at his phone, considering what to do.
