"Ugh, it's so gross" Millie said, her voice clearly annoyed as she served Juliana and little Paloma their breakfasts. Paloma was still in her Bluey pajamas.
Juliana thought *Oh great, she's about to go into her "Women should know better than to vote Republican" spiel again, like she does every election*.
"Women should know better than to vote Republican! Especially after those see you next Tuesdays on the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade. Can you believe this sh...stuff, honey?" Millie said as she sat down with them.
Millie wasn't hungry, she was too angry to eat, so was only having a banana and some yogurt, while her wife and daughter split a pan full of huevos rancheros, which they both gobbled up.
"Millie, it's not as bad as you think. The Democrats actually way outdid expectations. Midterms are usually a bloodbath for the incumbent party, and this was not."
Goddess, Juliana thought, she wished that her wifey was into sports the same way that she was in politics. *That* Juliana would love to talk about. But que sera sera.
"The results would have been even better if Cuomo hadn't enabled that bananas redistricting plan that essentially guaranteed that multiple seats in New York ended up flipping Red. I'm so glad that she's gone."
Paloma was trying her best to keep up. Her mommy sounded so smart to her.
"Ugh...these gross old men in Congress, they never changed. They may look like women, and talk like women, but they're not real women, they're traitors. They're all traitors. They're all a bunch of sexy Phyllis Schlaflys."
Juliana rolled her eyes slightly as she ate her eggs.
"You were a middle aged man yourself before the Great Change, honey. You were balding, and socially awkward, and kind of weird, I'm not gonna lie."
Millie looked at Juliana with sad looking eyes.
Uh oh, Juliana immediately thought to herself. I screwed up.
Even since The Great Change, there had been an interesting trend going on among New Women.
While the overwhelming majority of New Women had eventually gone on to accept their new gender, some had gone even further than that and actively embraced womanhood. These women liked to downplay the fact or even deny that they had ever been men at all.
Millie was one of these "Embracers".
Any time her past as Milton was brought up, she clearly got flustered or defensive or upset about it.
Juliana had been more easygoing. She had accepted womanhood, but she still liked to remember her time as Jose.
"Honey" Juliana said, turning towards Paloma. "Could you go get dressed and brush your teeth?"
"Yes, mommy!"
Paloma ran upstairs.
Millie looked at Juliana.
"Why did you bring that up in front of our *daughter*?"
"I'm sorry, Millie. Slip of the tongue."
Juliana stood up from her chair and grabbed Millie's giant breasts through her top and bent down to kiss her.
"You are the sexist woman I've ever met. Never forget that."
