Lab Safety

added A year ago O

You are Daniel, a young but promising genetic scientist working on some groundbreaking research that could help solve a wide array of chromosomal disorders. You've been attempting to design a serum that can alter the subjects inherited genes to change their psychological and even physiological states. The research is still in quite the early stages, but you've already made some promising advancements. Namely, you've changed the color of a lab rat's hair, caused one of their tails to increase in length, and even completely changed the sexual organs of another. The issue, however, is that the serums still can be pretty unstable, even while working with much simpler lifeforms. It is also extraordinarily potent, as it causes effects through injection, digestion, skin contact, vapors, and about any other way a substance could find its way into some of the cells in your body. You have not yet tested anything on any human subjects, or anything bigger than the aforementioned lab rats for that matter, so the results could vary drastically with the shift in anatomical and genetic structure, leading to various unique results on a human subject.

One late night, while you were finishing some potentially massive improvements, you fell victim to the all to familiar foe of sleep deprivation. While transferring one of your serums between stations, you stumbled and tripped. The vial you were carrying smashed into a nearby counter on the way down and subsequently poured down all over your face. You immediately jumped up and ran to the nearest rinse station, immediately trying to flush all of the gene-altering chemicals off of your skin. After thoroughly drenching your face, you place the rinsing nozzle back in its normal position.

"Dang, I really hope I got it all off in time," you think to yourself.

Nothing you can do about it now anyway you suppose. Cleaning up the remaining mess left by the broken glass, you decide it to be as good of a time as any to put a pin in any ongoing research and pick it up again another time. Closing up your lab, you head outside to your vehicle to drive home. The whole way there, you can't help but think about what could happen to your body if the serum made its way into your bloodstream. Eventually, you reaffirm that worrying about it helps no one. So, you head up to your bedroom and climb into bed.

What happens in your sleep is unbeknownst to you...
