The third Maid had barely managed to arrive in time to still get dessert, coincidentally meeting the first two Maids along the way.
They started talking, and the topic of the strange Vase came up at some point.
After talking about it for a while, all three decided to work on it one last time, making it something worthy of a Queen.
The three Maids met up a while later at the door of the Queen's bedroom, carrying various supplies.
Despite already coming so far without discussing it with any higher-ups, they still respectfully knocked on the door and waited,
only entering when they confirmed that there was no one inside.
"Ah, i can see the difference. You did a great job smoothing it out." The first Maid said, praising the third.
"Thank you. So, what were you planning to change about it?" Asked the third, while smiling at the compliment.
"I intend to hollow it out a bit more. I noticed that it was far too shallow for its size when i was working on it."
"That's a good idea! What did you bring?" She asked, directed at the second Maid.
"I noticed that the colour of the top didn't match the rest of the Vase, and managed to find a special coating that should make it fit."
"I noticed that too, but i didn't know what to do about it! That's a great find!" The third Maid exclaimed with some surprise in her tone.
"So, what did you plan?" The first Maid asked the third with some curiosity.
"I thought that the lip around the opening needed some work, it would definitively look better if it was thicker and more defined."
The three had arrived while they were talking, and put their tools down around the Vase. "Alright, let's get started!"
The first Maid started by widening the opening more together with the third Maid,
afterwards reaching through the opening and using her tools to carve away the inside, expanding it significantly.
Meanwhile, the third Maid mixed some of the dust from the parts the first Maid carved away with a special paste,
applying it around the expanded rim, creating a thick lip around the opening of the Vase.
Once the lip had hardened, the third Maid sanded and polished it until it was smooth,
while the first Maid started clearing out the pieces she had carved away from the inside.
After that, both Maids worked together to smooth out and polish the inside of the Vase.
They managed to clear out a fairly large space inside the Vase, turning it into something actually usable.
"Alright, i think its ready for the coating." Said the first Maid, as she turned to the second, who picked up a large brush and a canister.
"You two already did a lot of work, so just leave this to me." The other two watched as she carefully brushed the coating on the Vase,
covering the top of it, before moving on to the inside, finishing after about five minutes.
"Now we just have to wait for a moment, and then me can apply a final layer of polish to seal it."
The first Maid crossed her arms while looking at the Vase. "I think we've done a pretty good job."
She leaned her head to the side, a smile slowly growing on her face. "But there's one more thing left to do."
She picked up one of her carving tools, reaching into the Vase, and carved three sets of initials into an inconspicuous spot.
"I think we deserve a little bit of credit for our work." The other two smiled at her words.
They had bonded a lot over this project, making it almost unfortunate that it was almost over.
"We worked together pretty well, we should do something like this again at some point!" "Yeah!" "Agreed."
It didn't take long for the coating to dry, allowing them to apply the last layer of polish, sealing it and giving the vase a shiny finish.
They admired their work one last time, before packing up and heading out, while talking about meeting up tomorrow,
already having moved on from the Vase.
