Over the next 30 minutes Spark, Amara, and Duke listened carefully as Sylvia, Tanya, and the vampires divulged everything they knew.
New England had always been a hotbed for the supernatural going back centuries. From witches, to werewolves, to vampires, and other cryptids had settled in the area with the first colonists. While the numbers were usually low, supernatural events surrounding this small town had drawn alot of attention.
"When the supernatural world's breached the mortal world it kind of sent up a signal flare," Sylvia stated. "Alot of supernatural entities settled in just to see what was going on."
"That was how the vampire nation became so interested in this area," the brunette vampire added. "Although you probably know that already. Our sire turned us almost a year ago."
"Who was your sire if I may ask," Spark said.
"A vampire named Adam he was destroyed by the Dragon King and his mother Tiamat. Apparently they tried kidnapping a dragon child."
Duke nodded, remembering the vampires master plan on prom night. The next generation along with himself were targeted. It resulted in Lynne Turner and Yuriko Harris being captured before the wizards mounted a rescue.
"As the traitor already knows the vampires were defeated," the auburn haired vampire scowled. "While most left, there were several who remained. We've seen quite a few demons and cryptids move in since then."
"Such as," Spark asked.
"Werewolves," the brunette stated. "Witches, hags, demons, kobolds, a real nice sasquash family, a deer woman, even some fae. Everyone though tries to keep a low profile. They know that there are some powerful wizards that won't tolerate humanity being harmed."
"Not to mention a demon hunter," the auburn haired woman replied. "Rumor has it the Moreland family planted roots around these parts." Duke and Spark now exchanged a look, watching the vampires shudder at the mere mention of the Morelands.
"So there's alot of supernatural races floating around," Amara asked.
"More than usual," the vampires stated. "I mean we're sandwiched in-between New York and Boston so the population is always larger but its grown recently."
"Which brings us to Ezekiel Kane," Tanya stated.
"What can you tell us about Kane," Spark asked. "You said he slaughtered his family?" Sylvia and Tanya nodded, the pair of ghosts anxiously glancing at one another before continuing.
After Kane had been excommunicated from the church he returned home. The Kane's were furious with Ezekiel. For centuries they had served the church f
as demon hunters. Now, thanks to Ezekiel actions, they were to have their lands seized. A fight broke out between Ezekiel and his father with Ezekiel murdering the man in front of his family.
"Ezekiel didn't stop with his father though," Sylvia whispered. "He murdered the rest of his line. His mother, his siblings, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces. Anyone with any blood relation to him. It didn't matter if they were in a nursing home or a crib. He killed them all."
"Afterwards," Tanya continued. "He took most of the artifacts and runes his family had collected over the years. He set his home on fire and vanished. Over the years he became more of an urban legend than anything. Their were whispers that he would make an appearance here or there but nothing concrete."
Spark and Amara nodded, thanking them for even this little bit of information. Sylvia now turned to Duke, giving the dhamphir a quizzical look. "Umm is something wrong," Duke asked.
"Your mother," Sylvia said. "Her last name was Tomassan right?" Duke balked, his jaw agape as he slowly nodded.
"I thought you were Sophia's boy," she said quickly. "Real nice lady your mom. She was so sad watching what your dad did. But over the last year she was so excited to see the friends you made. She really liked your girlfriend too. Right before we crossed over she was just gushing about how proud she was of you."
"You..you talked with my mother?"
"Of course," Sylvia exclaimed. "Who do you think gave us the idea to come to this town."
