Spark frowned, while Ezekiel Kane was problematic hearing of the birth of quintuplets to the vampire lord concerned her more. "Look," she stated. "I want to know about Kane's family too but the vampire thing really is more pressing."
"How though," Amara asked.
"Just trust me on this," Spark replied quickly. Turning to the two vampires, she swallowed hard. "Do you two work here or something," she asked. The vampires nodded, giving the teen an odd look. ""Okay let's go talk in your office. I need to call someone."
Amara now sat in the management office of the store. The two vampires had been keeping a low profile as of late. As Amara listened to Sylvia and Tanya talk with the two of them, she began to get more details on the vampires war last year.
The vampire nation had achieved a bit of a pyric victory. They had bolstered their numbers at the cost of Miro Tepes and two of the Five. Amara was familiar with the Five, thinking they were an urban legend. As a result of the war, Amara learned that the vampires had withdrawn, beaten back by the wizards they had tried to turn. A deal appeared to have been reached with the new lord of the vampires, Wyatt Tepes. The vampires would leave wizards alone and have no organized presence here. What the vampires gained from this arrangement though was unknown even to the vampires.
"So whats taking your friend so long," Sylvia asked. Amara shrugged, she wasn't sure. Spark had been gone for 20 minutes so far causing the mara to become slightly uncomfortable. The chances the vampires would try and attack were slim, vampires fed on humans not demons. Still, it didn't mean that they couldn't try.
"Sorry that took so long."
Amara looked to see Spark now enter the office. The human turned fairy sporting a serious look on her face as she glowered at the pair of vampires. "Look I want all the info on Kane but when its comes to vampires I'm not taking any chances." Spark now opened the office door wider, Amara watching as an older teenage boy with long dark hair now followed behind Spark.
"I've been battling night stalkers longer than most of you have been alive," she said softly, gesturing to the man behind her. "If Wyatt has kids then he needs to know."
"Who is he," Amara asked.
"Duke," the vampires gasped. The women now glowered at Sylvia, Tanya, and Amara. "You brought a traitor here?!"
"Quiet," Duke exclaimed. The dhamphir now slamming his fist down on a table as he glared at the two women. Amara now studied the young man, her eyes going wide in astonishment. Dukes muscles seemed to swell under his skin, the teens eyes glowing unnaturally as he now bared his fangs. "He's a vampire," Amara gasped.
"Dhamphir," Duke replied. "My name is Duke Tepes. Son of Miro Tepes and the half brother of Wyatt."
"And a murderer," one of the vampires spat. "You killed Lord Miro and attacked Lord Wyatt."
"Hold on backup," Amara exclaimed. The mara's head was spinning from everything she had just heard. How did Spark know the son of the former vampire lord?
"My friend ," Duke stated softly. "Tells me you are trying to return to the vampire nation. Why?"
"We'll tell you nothing," one of the vampire women scoffed.
"If you want to get back in one piece you will," Spark countered. "There's nothing preventing us from just leaving you at the mercy of Kane. Do you really want to take your chances?" The two vampires now shared a look, the pair conflicted. They had no love for Duke however, fear of Kane won out over their hatred.
Amara, Spark, and Duke now listened intently as they told of the recent events within the vampire nation. After returning to the vampire homeland, Wyatt had impregnated Kyra. Much to everyone's surprise Kyra not only carried the children to term but gave birth to five healthy dhamphir children. "Sasha," Duke sighed.
"Who?"
"My girlfriend," Duke grumbled. "She's a wizard. She must have done something after she rescued me from my father's dungeon."
"Alot things happened quickly during that fight Duke," Spark stated. "I was there remember it was crazy. Whatever Sasha did I'm sure it was to help." Duke simply nodded, gazing at both Amara and Spark curiously. "Does Caleb know about this?"
"No," Spark stated. "And neither does Connor. They'd freak out if they heard we were even thinking about helping a pair of vampires."
"Probably best to keep it quiet," Duke said softly. "But, if the information they give us is helpful then we're going to make a trip to see my brother. I have to see if the rumors are true about Wyatt's children."
"Wait," one of the vampires said slowly. "You're actually thinking of helping us?"
"I'm a better person than my father,"Duke said bitterly. "And my brother. I have no desire to kill you as long as you haven't harmed anyone. But, if you want my help then you have to tell them everything you know about this Ezekiel Kane."
"Its a fair offer," Sylvia stated. The two vampires looked at one another before nodding. The ghosts and the vampires would share everything they knew. In return Duke would transport the vampires back to the vampire nation.
