The Great Change: Thanksgiving Vignettes

added by DarkLuke 9 months ago AR TG O Magic

Logan and Allison and their families were celebrating Thanksgiving together.

Logan herself was pretty eh on the concept of Thanksgiving, while her wife on the other hand loved the beginning of the holiday season, helping to bake pies with her mom and dressing up in autumn colors.

As Logan was carving a piece of turkey in the kitchen, she accidentally nicked her hand.

"Oww!" she squeaked, causing Allison to rush over to her.

"Are you OK, my darling?" Allison asked with concern in her voice, holding lovingly onto Logan's shoulders.

Logan laughed happily.

"You don't have to baby me, I'm fine. See? It's nothing" Logan said, showing Allison her hand.

Allison huffed.

"Oh, why do you have to be so tough all the time? Just let me take care of you."

"It's just a little cut. It's nothing. Oh wait...holy shit".

Logan and Allison watched with awe as Logan's admittedly tiny flesh wound rapidly healed itself until there was no trace of it left.

"That's not normal" they both said at the same time.

Meanwhile, Juliana and Millie and Juliana's parents were celebrating their own holiday together. Millie couldn't have been happier to be part of such a loving family.

Millie had invited some guests over: Barry, who didn't have anywhere else to go, as well as one of her kindergarten students, Jo Saviano, and Jo's mother Kayla.

Jo and Paloma played at the little kids table, instantly becoming besties, while the adults talked at the big table.

"Oh my God, Jo is cute as a button" Millie gushed to Kayla with a smile and a wave of her hand. "And she's such a good student. I actually think that she may be gifted and needs to be bumped up a grade."

"I am not surprised at all" Kayla beamed proudly. "I remember when Jo was just a baby, and she was forming words way too advanced for her age out of her alphabet blocks. She's my little smarty pants."

"So where is your wife? I don't believe I've ever met her. Her name is Martha, right?"

"Yes. Martha doesn't believe in Thanksgiving, so she chose to stay home and get plastered instead. She said that she doesn't want to celebrate a holiday created by oppressors."

Millie choked a little bit on her wine.

"Well, I guess that she has a point."

"Yeah, she does, but that just means more food for us!" Kayla giggled.

"Jo said during Show And Tell one day that you and Martha are really old. Like, over a hundred. Jeez, and I thought that The Great Change did *me* a lot of favors."

Kayla giggled.

"Yep! We're both just so glad to be alive and see how much the world is changing. It's like a big adventure, you never know what's going to happen next!"

Barry brought up the elephant in the room that Jo looked nothing like her mother.

"So when did you adopt Jo?" she asked.

Kayla paused.

Regina's Thanksgiving felt really sad and awkward.

She missed her old world. She missed Barry. She missed Aziza. She missed her old colleagues and co-workers.

She was back to being a (mostly) normal person again too, which sucked and depressed her.

Not to mention, Brenda and Meiko's little lesbian cult had caused a lot of trouble in this reality.

Men didn't appreciate the fact that they felt that they were being replaced.

Religious people resented the fact that a new religion had popped up and was converting new followers by the barrel full.

People, just in general, were a little bit freaked out by the fact that magic and self proclaimed "goddesses" were real.

People in The Great Change version of Earth had been freaked out too, but the difference was that everyone had been transformed all at once.

Nobody there could protest or be full of hate towards others because everyone was in the same boat.

Most of all, *everyone* was freaked out by the wild card that was immortality.

Nobody knew what the world was going to be like when it was filled with women who were indestructible and would never die.

But despite all the drama, Meiko and Brenda and Tiffani and Shannon seemed to like Regina for some reason and saw her as a friend, so who was she to turn down a free meal?

"Pass the stuffing" she asked Tiffani.
