Ally, Kyle, and Alfred tumbled out of the portal. Mr. Dormitabis landed first, only to be flattened by the combined weight of Ally and her brother. He groaned in pain, before pushing the siblings off of him. Thankfully, it seemed Ally was completely human, with no trace of dog parts. Even better, she was acting like a human as well, mouthing several swears under her breath as she dusted her pants off.
"Well, what do we do now?" asked Kyle, looking over his sister with a mix of concern and anticipation.
"Now?" Ally glared daggers at her brother. "Now, I am going to get absolutely wasted, and try to forget this horrible mess that my idiot pervert brother has gotten me into."
The hypnotist tried to play peacemaker, and put himself between the two siblings. "Look, I know you're angry at your brother, and you have every right to be, but right now, we need to figure out our next steps."
"Next steps?" Ally asked with a mocking tone. "Last I checked, your wizard friend up and ditched us, and there's no way to fix me!"
"Well, I..." Alfred didn't have a good response.
It was at this inopportune point that Mr. Dormitabis's manager/secretary, Jennifer, walked in. She looked over the odd trio, before sighing.
"Alfred, you can't do promotional stunts like that without consulting me. Do you know how much... never mind. At least it worked out this time."
The hypnotist was clearly confused. "Promotional... stunts...?"
"Uh yeah. You know... her whole dog act?" The middle-aged woman gestured to Ally, who went white as sheet.
"Oh yeah, right... that..." Mr. Dormitabis found himself at a loss for words.
"No need to modest. A pretty little thing like her, going in that deep? It was bound to be a hit. See?" She whipped out her phone, and started playing a video.
Ally ripped out of her hands, heartbeat racing. In shaky cellphone video, Ally could clearly be seen acting like a pooch, before running into the famed hypnotist. Their dialogue couldn't be heard, but the video ended with a still dog-minded Ally walking away with Mr. Dormitabis. She could hardly believe the amount of views that video had raked in, or how blissful she seemed. Part of her wanted that contentment again, part of her... She shook her head, trying to control her train of thought. She was human. She needed to stay human. She needed to... It was getting harder and harder to think straight.
Alfred and Kyle were also having reactions. Kyle felt a mix of schadenfreude and guilt. It was really hot seeing his bratty sister humiliated like this. However, he had nearly doomed his sister, and for that matter, the known universe, for an immature prank. Even with all that, he still got a kick out of seeing his sister's dog side. Meanwhile, Alfred was going through several stages of panic, trying to figure out how he could spin this. That was a decent number of views, even for him. He couldn't take advantage of this though. That would be wrong on so many levels.
"Don't worry boss." Jennifer said, completely failing to read the room. "I've already booked her for tonight's show. I'm sure she'll be a hit. Maybe you could work in the dog routine? It seemed to really pull in the views."
Alfred was about to protest, when Ally surprised everyone. "Sounds great." she replied in a sleepy tone. "I'll be a good girl."
"Excellent! I'll see you at the show." Satisfied, Jennifer exited stage left, eager to set up more promotional material, leaving the trio.
Alfred and Kyle looked at each other in stupefied silence, while Ally started to happily pant. How were they going to get out of this one?
