Allegra and Flora happily fit in with both Animalia's Bird Animalians along with all those Animalians that were interested in theater type performances. It made for some rather interesting meetings, particularly as the winter months started to set in, as some of the Animalians they'd met weren't particularly keen on wintering in northern Nevada.
"You don't stay here year-round?" Flora asked to a pair of Parrot Animalians, though she was a bit unsure of the species of parrot.
"Some do... I think that one rich Fox lady employs someone who became a Macaw Animalian," the Parrot Animalian answered, "but that's more a work issue for him. We don't have that issue."
"And while this area doesn't get artic cold... it can be cold here in winter," the Parrot Animalian's mate added, "so we actually go down to Vilcabamba for the winter. We come back here in March."
"Which is why we come here," the Parrot Animalian then said gestured to the post office building behind them, "we get our mail redirected to Vilcabamba until March. It's all part of escaping the cold. You could do it too."
"No... the theater's season can actually get busier this time of year," Flora commented, "and besides... Allegra's feathers are warm and fluffy."
The two Parrot Animalians chuckled and then made their way into the post office. It left Allegra and Flora to continue on their walk. They had noted the temperatures dropping a bit, as it was the end of November. They'd also noticed that even in Animalia there were those that put up Christmas lights shortly after Thanksgiving. But things weren't terrible and given that Animalia had been built up with the same amenities that Humans in Lyre lived with, they didn't think that a lot of the migration patterns between warm areas was that necessary. That soon generated some discussion on the matter as they walked along.
"I'm still not sure on why so many seem to want to "migrate" they weren't uplifted," Flora commented, "and especially those that were Human. I mean... many of them converted to get their youth back, even if it meant giving up retirement and Social Security benefits until they reach "middle age" again. They'd all understand that the homes they have can keep them warm and jackets can do the same."
"I'm sure they do," Allegra agreed, "though some of it may be in relation to flying. Birds that fly generally don't prefer to walk."
"Some of the Ostrich Animalians have already booked holiday "vacations" to New Zerzura and Maelewano," Flora commented, "and the Emus have gone to the colony in Australia."
"I didn't mean to imply that all flightless birds liked cold weather," Allegra sighed, "not every bird is a penguin."
"They might migrate north," Flora laughed and earned a chuckle from Allegra as well, "but still... don't you think this is odd?"
"That uplifted Animalians might follow instinctual urges to migrate?" Allegra mused back, "even where they migrate to is different from where they might have gone before uplifting? Not too much. After all, one cannot suppress instinct."
"But some of this includes some Bird Animalians that DON'T migrate," Flora answered.
"Most of them were Humans that had already got into that habit of migrating," Allegra commented, "they work in the spring and summer in the north and then go to Arizona or Florida for the winter."
Flora sighed at that. It was something that she'd seen a lot with some of the Bird Animalians. The Eagle Animalians seemed to be fine with staying in Lyre/Animalia, and she and Allegra would be fine staying in Lyre/Animalia, at least while the theater was performing in there. If there was to be a performance that would be elsewhere and wanted Flora or Allegra to sing in, they might go with that, but for the moment the two of them were essentially getting started from the ground up in Lyre/Animalia and would be working with Gloria as they got started from the ground up. But they also noted the actions from other Animalians, and particularly Bird Animalians. Many were often packing, or has had been the case with the two Parrot Animalians they'd just met with, were either having their mail held or redirected for the coming winter months.
