A Stern Discussion with your new Older Brother

added by Anonymous 9 months ago O

You don't want Roy to get all huffy-puffy on you. You've seen him angry before, and it's not a good look on his face. As much as you wanted to spend this overwhelming energy of this youthful body by running around the house naked, you'd rather keep your new older brother happy and not this sour grape. You picked up Edward's clothes, which consisted of his damp underwear, baggy shorts, and a thin long-sleeved shirt with a thicker shirt on top. It's somewhat cold today—no wonder this little shit is coddled in these layers of clothes. But hey, he looks kind of cute in the mirror. He'd be a model if he weren't such a pain to deal with. A little docility and he'd be cashing money from various talent agencies.

Roy mulched on his butter-soaked popcorn. He liked them drizzling gold and soggy. You never understood how he could stand that greasy slop. "So, how does it feel to be in his body? Do you feel like a shithead?" He laughed.

"I don't know..." You walked around him. You can't believe that he stands taller than you are now. "I have this weird urge inside me, telling me to punch you in the nuts."

"Really?"

"Of course not, doofus. I may have this body but his head is locked tight. Not like I could get anything from there. As if I wanted to." You plopped yourself on the spacious sofa and drowned yourself in its ginormous pillows. "So, what fun do you guys do around here?"

"Fun? Edward has his own way of finding fun. As for me, I am going to the community pool at Serratia's in about an hour."

This guy is nuts. The sun may be up out there, but it's pushing 10 degrees out there. Snow's a little late but the cold isn't. "Are you seriously going to take a swim in this weather?"

"First off, I am not going for a swim. Second, I am going there for a job, you know? Like what sane college students should be doing. I know you're family's doing well and all, but you got to learn how to pull your weight like the rest of us." Interactions with Roy are never complete if he didn't complain about a single thing, no matter how mundane it is. It's a bother, but it's his signature, and you've come to tolerate it over the years.

"I know... I know... I'm getting to that," You aren't. Your parents aren't from the freedom land of the ole' US and A. Back in their country, they don't kick out their children after the age of eighteen. They take care of them as long as they want. Your father is making a killing at his job, and you're mother inherited substantial wealth and that is why she's wasting her time doing different recreational classes every other month. And let's not forget the elephant in the room. "Why should I even work? I have this zipper! I could just slap it on a rich man's back and bam! Easy money."

"Seriously? That's theft, and it's a crime. I can't believe you even thought of that. Mrs. Cruz should be ashamed of you."

"It's not a crime if nobody finds out."

"To be honest. I can't believe I'm discussing this shit while you're wearing my brother's face. Every waking moment is a screaming match with him. And now we're here, discussing jobs and crimes. It's weird." Barely five minutes had passed and Roy had already finished his buttery slop. "That reminds me. Edward's got plans for the day. Going to hang out with his friends, you know them. Marco and James, blonde and brown."

"Yeah, I know them. They look like a pair of twins—triplets if you add Edward." Although, there are distinct differences between them. "Marco's the guy who plays baseball, and James is the asthmatic scaredy-cat."

"Wow, you know my little brother more than I do. But yeah, it's those two. They're going somewhere, I think. Check my brother's phone. They're bound to have a group chat or something. Although, I am also thinking of inviting you to come to the pool with me."

"Uhhh... Didn't you already tell to my face that my family is so loaded and that's the reason why I do not have a job?"

"I didn't say it. I implied it. And I said it to prove the opposite point to what you've just said. You need to work. Not only for money but for the experience. Two more years and we're out of college. Do you want an empty resume by then?" Roy came over to the sink and washed the grease off his fingers. "And yes. I know you have the zipper and yadda yadda. But do you want to spend the rest of your days stealing money from other people? So, what do you say?"
