As soon as the download continues, Evan hears Jeff, who he still thinks is just an AI with some “bug” which he intends to “fix” once the download is complete, let out a moan. “Man... th-this really... feels weird,” he says, sounding tired and weak, “m-makes me s-so... damn... t-tired,” just then Evan's Tablet gives of a “ping” and Jeff is silent, only the radio is still playing some soothing melody.
Evan waits for a while, “Jeff,” he asks, no answer, “I guess everything is downloaded. Now, let's see what we have.” The teen opens his IT-diagnostic program and pulls up the data he downloaded from the “Jeep”. “Man, that is a LOT of data,” Evan says, he scrolls through the files and nods, “everything looks normal, except for two files: one, which is labeled “Jeff” and the other labeled “Chronivac”. Hmmm... .”
Remembering what the “AI” had told him, Evan decides to check out the program, he opens the file and opens the manual. The teen's eyes widen the more he reads, he then opens the history of the Chronivac's stored transformations and his eyes widen in surprise, “so, it is true,” he mumbles. Evan scratches his head, “OR, the manufactures have uploaded this program to the car, to create an AI.”
Evan thinks about the two options for a while, “I think it is the latter,” he concludes with a nod, “they created this human-like AI with the help of this Chronivac, unaware that the program would cause the AI to believe it is human.” The 16-year-old shakes his head, “man, I wish people would stop doing stupid experiments,” he mumbles, “people could get hurt. Best to do is to fix this error, and I know how.”
The IT-wiz then opens Jeff's file, “I'll leave the AI's name “Jeff”, and just delete the surename, the age, height, weight, hair color and style and everything human-like,” Evan mutters to himself and starts deleting informations about the “AI” which, he believes, are nonsense. Soon, only Jeff's first name is shown in the file, “that should do it,” Evan says, “I'd like to study this Chronivac thing, I could create a copy, which will be linked to Greg's Jeep, it might come in handy.” Evan also edits the “AI's” vocabulary down to just some basics, such as: “Good day” for when Greg opens the car door, “Good bye” for when Greg shuts the car off, “Confirmed” for when Greg selects a command, “Error” for when Greg tries something which the car and/or “AI” would naturally not allow, and a few more “answers”.
After Evan had created a copy of the Chronivac on his Tablet, he starts to upload everything back into the “Jeep”, unaware of what he had done.
Evan's Tablet gives off a “ping” once the upload is completed, “let's run a test,” the boy says, “turn on radio,” he then says in a commanding tone.
The radio immediately turns on and Evan can hear the voice of the “AI” come through, “w-woah... I f-feel weird!”
“Hello Jeff,” Evan says.
“Hello Evan,” Jeff replies, “welcome aboard, how can I be of service? Wait... what?”
Evan smiles, 'seems to be working normal,' he thinks to himself, “shut down system.”
Before Jeff realizes what is happening, the last thing he hears himself say is, “confirmed,” before his mind goes blank.
Evan smiles, feeling proud, pleased and satisfied, “my job here is done,” he says, shutting down his Tablet and stashing it into his bag, “I will study the Chronivac when I arrive home,” the teen walks to the exit. When he reaches the door to leave, he turns around and looks at the Jeep with a smile, “I hope Greg will be happy with what I have done,” he then locks the Jeep and puts the keys back into the key-box by the door, then leaves for home.
