"I thought you could hand me one and another to yourself." Matthew said with all the foe confidence he could muster.
The girl smiled. "Oh, ordering off of the secret menu are we?"
"Secret menu?" Matthew asked.
The bartender nodded. "While we have many transformative drinks, we also have a few special experiences offered on our secret menu. We don't advertise for it though. Its told only by word of mouth, so usually only our regulars get it. Though I don't letting someone accused stumble onto it."
She began mixing the drink. "Switch with a bartender is called the working girl special. Unlike a normal swap scotch it comes with strings attached. Whoever is in my body has to work my shift, which ends at closing at 2 AM. It's also a special we only offer once a night since we can't have the whole place playing musical chairs with my body. It would become a headache getting everyone back it the right bodies after all is said and done. Also it would cause the bar to have terrible service of everyone was new. Do you have any bartending experience? "
Matthew nodded. "Worked my uncle's place for the summer once."
The bartender poured two glasses, the familiar brown tent of scotch had a faint greenish glow. "That will work. So, ready to start you shift?"
Hesitantly Matthew picked up his glass. The bartender called down to a man working the other end of the bar. "Hey Jake! A working girl special shift is about to start." Jake looked at both of them an nodded.
She quickly clacked their glasses together and downed their drinks. Matthew felt a bizarre dizziness and noticed multiple differences by the time he put the glass on the bar.
One, he was standing instead of sitting. Two, he was now behind the bar looking at the patrons, including his own face. And finally three, he was now most certainly a she.
Matthew's old face gave a smug smile. "Enjoy the shift. If I choose to swap back we will do it after closing, and we split the tips."
"If?" She asked her former body.
"Swap has to be mutually agreed on. I can choose to keep my new body, which is why people don't usually swap with strangers. If I don't show up to swap back, you can keep tonight's wages and the body. Its a nice one, so take care of it. Depending on how well you do, Jake will decide if you keep the job." Her old body stood up. "Also your name is Liza, don't forget it. Everyone here will be calling you that even if they know about the swap." With that he left.
She was about to chase her old body when she felt a hand on her shoulder. "Hold it there. You leave the bar during a working girl special you forfeit all money and have to spend triple to swap back." Turning she saw Jake. "Don't worry to much about her running off. She is mostly joking."
"Mostly?" She asked her new boss.
"No time to play twenty questions. We have customers and I need your help Liza. Let's start with this order here."
