You decided to follow the arrow leading straight ahead.
The lush, light whimsy of the edge of the wood gives way to darkness. Spooky darkness. It seems nowadays every fantasy adventure has a dark spooky forest full of various monsters. And this one is no different. Of course, there's no monsters in sight, but there's a general air of... ominousness, for lack of a better word. The trees here are so tall, their reach so broad, that they obscure the sky with a thick green canopy, so dark it's almost black. However, you likely won't starve to death, what with all the berry bushes, ferns and mushrooms growing along the overgrown path. Of course, the berries and mushrooms might kill you instead. You don't know, as you've never seen fruits or fungus in such bright colors.
You walk alone, lost in the scent of petrichor and the plaintive song of a lone cuckoo. You could probably rest here, find a stump and sit down for a while. But part of you remembers why you came. You must save your princess. Do you follow your quest? Or do you listen to your instincts?
