Dan went home, letting himself in with the key hidden in a flowerpot.
He sat on his bed, and held his head in his hands.
His mind was buzzing.
He was scared, he was angry, he was confused.
Was he not alowed to plead his case to the Magical Supreme whatever? Surely he couuld be pardonned for not knowing that what he was doing was against a low he had no idea existed.
But what made him feel worst was that he had no idea what was going to happen to him.
The being had told him just to say his goodbyes. What did that mean?
Was he headed to some kind of magical jail?
Was he going to be sent away?
Was he going to be executed?
That last one made him burst into tears.
In the end, he decided that this shouldn't be how he spends his last few hours.
He lifted the phone.
Nick was in the forest.
He had lost the crowd. It wouldn't be long until the press heard about it.
He'd changed his mind. Being a faun had been great. But now it wasn't the same. Now it was definitely permanent. Would he have to go in hiding? What about his family, would he ever see them again? What would they say?
Nick's chain of thought ended when he realised he was not alone.
Dan had phoned everyone he knew. His family, his friends, even some enemies.
None of them quite understood what he was talking about, most ignored him, but he had closure nonetheless.
The worst call was to his parents. They were on a buisiness trip, and wouldn't be returning until the following morning.
Dan tried not to think about the fact he would never see them again.
By now, the sun was setting. It was getting late.
Dan reffered to his clock. 8:00 it flashed.
He had four hours left.
What could he do but wait? He couldn't enjoy himself, he was too depressed.
So he lay there, and waited for doom to arrive.
Somebody knocked on the door. Dan ignored it.
Somebody knocked again, with more urgency.
Dan slowly walked donwstair and answered the front door.
Who he saw shocked him.
