Knowing time was running out, Luke grabbed the pile of clothing and ran for the doorway. Mike stepped aside as he barreled through, then pulled the door shut. Luke was back in the locker room, getting curious stares form his teammates. He was still naked, and rapidly pulled the uniform and sneakers back on. Mike watched. "You gonna hang around this time?"
Luke shook his head. "I would really like to keep the Beast, but I don't think the rest of his life will be worth it. I gotta take the uniform off in the costume shop to change back!"
Mike shrugged. "Maybe. If you get back soon enough. But I think you may have spent enough time in the shower and with me to finish things up. Luke was scared, bolted for the exit, hoping he could still get back. He was already partway out when he heard Mike call his name and hold up something familiar. His jock strap! He'd forgotten it. Luke stumbled through the door and found himself back in the costume shop. Only this time, the door to the locker room vanished. Luke yanked at the uniform and tried to push off the sneakers at teh same time. He sat on the floor as he got the last items off. Nothing happened.
Luke stood and looked adown, he was still the tall, dumb-looking 16 year-old, complete with Beast. But he still remembered his normal life, his modern identity. While he looked like the boy form the past, he was still him in his head. Not ideal, given this lumbering basketball player had no identity now, but he was still him inside.
