Morgana raised her hand. "If I may interject, I'm rather good friends with a Japanese witch named Saku who has made a study of both yokai and the Japanese breeds of werebeasts. She is particularly knowledgeable on how a person may be transformed into such beings. I'm sure she'll have discovered a way to bypass the undeath impediment."
Tatiana sulked. A large part of her was actually excited to make the ultimate sacrifice for the beautiful young woman she loved... and to become that woman. "What if I still like the old plan?" she grumbled.
Selena tried not to roll her eyes. It was in a vampire's nature to be melodramatically romantic and tragic. It gave them a weird sort of happiness. That was one of the reasons vampires were so rare despite being unaging: they were all so eager to die for true love. This instict was why Carmilla had reluctantly tolerated Tatiana's plan; she wasn't ready for it, but she knew her daughter's time would come sooner or later. Selena once again felt a pang of guilt for depriving tats of her final sacrifice.
"Then I won't stop you from going through with it as long as Selena consents," said Morgana, "but I strongly recommend asking Saku about your options. I've never tried to use this potion to fuse the souls of a vampire and a werebeast before. It could go horribly wrong. Selena could burn away your soul entirely, killing you utterly."
Tatiana trembled with excitement. Truth be told, she found that outcome nearly as thrillingly romantic as melding with Selena. "I really don't mind, Morgana."
"You could both die if Selena's primal vibrancy burns away the dark energies animating your undead body," Morgana went on.
That gave Tatiana some doubts. She certainly didn't want any harm to come to Selena. "Uhhh... at least we'd go together?" Okay, that was romantic.
"Your venom could corrupt Selena's primordial beast nature and leave her as just a vampire," Morgana added.
"I..." Tatiana began, but she was silenced by the look of terror in Selena's eyes. Dying together with Selena was one thing; stealing away her dream come true was very much another. Tatiana was a little frustrated about her tragic martyrdom in the name of her eternal love for Selena was being canceled (or at least delayed), but Selena's new powers couldn't be jeopardized.
Maybe it would be better to contact Saku and see what she knew about turning vampires into weretigers. Tatiana gazed at Selena's furry naked body and fantasized about herself looking like that. But sacrificing her tragic sacrifice would be the hardest thing Tatiana ever did. The feeling of being weak and bedridden had been simply intoxicating. Her vampire nature was screaming at her for even considering passing up an act of such heartbreaking beauty. What to do?
