“Fine...,” the Vampiress said sullenly. She still seemed on the verge on transitioning from undeath to death, but the smile cracking her lips open was kind. “Maybe we can still terrify your mother with Vamp-Were hybrids.” That she was, hopefully, joking meant more than the world to Selena.
Taking a step forward, the Weretiger reached and grabbed onto the sides of her best friend skeletal face. “Tell me, next time.” Their foreheads touched after Selena’s pleading gaze extracted a promise and she could finally relax. “Tomorrow night is the full moon. I know what I said about making you my mate and part of clan, that can wait. But you should come and meet everyone anyway as my best friend.”
“Can do that.” Tatiana pulled away, but without putting any emotional distance in her words. “So long as you introduce me as your and Jez’s girlfriend. Jezebel can be your mate. Let’s start there. Heard that, Jez?”
“Everything.” A pleased purr sounded from deep in Jezebel’s throat.
No opposition came from Selena either.
“Liesel is trying to listen in our conversation. Gonna have her take me to the kitchen and then wait for you two in bed when I feel more myself. Love you both. Okay?”
“Okay.”
After following the spectral figure of Tatiana out into the hallway, Selena turned her attention to Morgana. Jezebel and Delilah were eagerly chatting and speaking so quickly she nearly couldn’t keep up. She was too drained for that. Too exhausted to be furious with the witch as well, which hopefully would make this conversation go more smoothly.
“Please tell me that Saku can help.”
Morgana met the Weretiger Alpha with a steady and calming tone. “Her knowledge is greater than mine in this area and steeped in different magical traditions. Something you should be prepared to travel to Japan. Not all magic is,” the witch tried to encompass the word she sought with sweeping wave of her hand, “mobile. Leylines, spirits tied to a physical foundation, even certain places in time.”
Selena pursed her lips. That hadn’t exactly been an affirmative answer. “My streak will need me if any problems come up. I won’t leave my mate behind... suppose Abbie or Amber would be a good candidate to run things in our absence if it comes to that. There is just so much at once.”
“There's me and Tats to help out. And if you don't mind me saying, my future pack sisters are all big girls who can take care of themselves. Trust them.”
