Amanda now quickly walked towards the tiny infant, her eyes growing wide as she gazed at Candy. "Oh my god," she whispered.
Candy was sleeping peacefully, the newborn swaddled in a blanket and onesie. Picking the girl up, Amanda was a bit confused as to why the girl was dressed in age appropriate clothing. "How come Candy has clothes that fit and we're stuck like this?"
July and Moonbeam will had no answer, Amanda trying to shift her oversized blouse and jacket as she held Candy. For the 10 year old mother it was proving to be a bit tedious, the sleeves extended several inches past her hands forcing her to continually roll them up. Evenworse was the fact her slacks, shoes, and underwear was too big. Amanda blushed slightly at this, her only conciliation in the fact her jacket and blouse covered her to just above her knees.
"Hey magic man," Moonbeam called. "Can you like answer that?"
"Magic man," Amanda asked, the girl looking between the group.
"Yeah the voice man," Moonbeam grinned. "I was like talking to him before you came back. He's a pretty groovy guy." July and Amanda both appeared befuddled. Neither knew what to make of the situation. A voice now boomed inside the room, causing both girls to gasp in fright. "What was that!?"
"Thats the magic man, " Moonbeam smiled. "Amd I think it's because Candy was first in here and asked. Am I right magic man?"
Yes
"Knew it," Moonbeam grinned, once more hiking her bellbottoms up her narrow hips. July and Amanda were speechless, neither knowing how to respond. Gazing down at Candy, the two girls eyes went wide as Candy grew bigger, her clothes changing with her as she grew older.
"Shes starting to get kinda heavy," Amanda grunted, watching as her daughter became two.
"Well we're alot smaller," July stated. "I had the same problem when you came back. Why don't you put her down? She should be okay now." Amanda nodded, slowly lowering her sleeping daughter to the ground. "Mom I have so many questions," she said.
"Okay," July said softly. "Well ask away."
Amanda now took a breath before firing off a blistering series of questions. A hippy grandmother, working as a stripper, her real name being July. Their was so much Amanda didn't know. Growing up Amanda's mother had been strict yet loving, a warm yet firm presence. July was a hard working, loving mother, who Amanda thought was a bit of a prude. How was she only now learning about her mother's wild past.
"I wasn't exactly proud of how I grew up," July whined. "Why do you think I was so protective of you growing up? I didn't want you to make my mistakes. I didn't want you to have a mom like I did."
"Hey not cool man," Moonbeam grumbled. "I was an awesome mom. I let you spread your wings, become an individual. Live your life without the rules and restrictions I had."
"Yeah I could have used some structure mom," July exclaimed. "As it stands I ran away from home at 17 and became a freaking stripper! And you never came looking for me. You were too caught up in your own...your own...bullshit!"
"Hey I never forced you to become a stripper," Moonbeam stated. "And teenagers always rebel. I was trying to teach you differently than like my mom. Ugh she totally sucked. Super strict and conservative, it was a total drag."
"Did you even notice when I ran away? Did you even care?"
"Of course I cared," Moonbeam exclaimed. July and Amanda paused as they gazed at the hippy child. For the first time since seeing her they could see genuine sadness on the girls face. Moonbeams sky blue eyes growing glossy with tears.
"I missed you July. I missed you everyday, hoping you would come back to the commune. I always wondered how you were doing, where you were, if you got married, had kids. But, I realized I had to respect your decision."
July was silent, gazing at her sullen child of a mother. She had been so angry at her mom that she had never thought her mother would care. Now seeing how sad she was, she was slowly understanding her mom's odd way of parenting. "I missed you too mom," she sighed.
"I'm still trying to wrap my mind around all of this," Amanda said quietly. "I mean mom didn't even drink or smoke when I was growing up. She didn't even let me go on a date until I was 17."
"Harsh man," Moonbeam stated. "Geez July you sound like my mom. You gotta let your little bird spread her wings."
"Thanks grandma," Amanda smirked.
July balked, her mouth gaping as she looked between her mother and her daughter. The pair now giggling softly at July's obvious bewilderment. "You two are enjoying this too much," she grumbled.
"Probably," Moonbeam grinned. "But hey grandma's and granddaughters gotta stick together. Am I right Amanda?" Amanda nodded, a wide grin forming on her face as she gazed at Moonbeam. The woman turned child may have been a bit odd but, she was already warming up to her.
"Mom?"
Amanda gasped, quickly turning to look back at her daughter. Candy appeared dazed, yet she was back to her 10 year old self. The girl now rubbing her eyes as if waking up from a long nap.
"Candy are you okay?"
Candy nodded, blinking before studying her mother. "Mom why are you my age?"
"Aw man," Moonbeam groaned.
"What mom," July asked.
"Well if Candy is back then it means my mom is coming," Moonbeam groaned. "Ugh that is so gonna ruin my buzz."
July paused, she had never meet her grandmother. Moonbeam had left home a few years before her birth, July never meeting the woman. Now gazing at the door, she realized she was going to be meeting this woman for the first time.
