Chris stared at all sorts of windows - or rather portals to other worlds. One caught his eye in particular. It showed a wonderful tropical island. A true paradise. There was a beach of white sand, littered with amazing seashells. Swaying palm trees. Bright flowers. A clear blue sky. Mountains waiting to be explored. It looked utterly delightful. Beth Anne saw how his eyes sparkle and shine at the sight of this world. She offered Chris some more details.
"This is our portal to a tropical island. There is a doctor working there, along with a guard. Maybe you'd like to work with him?"
"Really? I'd like to but... But I don't know much about science, truth be told..."
Beth Anne just laughed.
"Nonsense! People have come to work with Dr Marrow and have settled in just fine studying biology. The wildlife and animal species are just amazing there and everyone finds something to love. Everyone's developed real passions thanks to the good doctor."
"Well, in that case..." pondered Chris.
But Beth Anne didn't even wait for his formal approval. She pushed him through the window.
"Enjoy!" she exclaimed brightly.
Chris was left on the warm sand and he jest managed to catch the window disappearing over him, leaving him stranded on this island. He sighed, getting up and brushing sand off his jeans. Well, all other people seemed happy with the doctor so it should sort itself out, right? Chris went in search of a house and indicate his arrival. Of course, Beth Anne had carefully omitted to Chris that what the last thirty-one people sent to the doctor, and a guard with him, had ended up becoming. They worked with him all right, but as experiment subjects. All had become animal-like monsters. And Chris was next.
