Chris looks at different scenes, or rather, portals. One strikes him as very odd. There is a platform and animals, too far to make out distinctly, are being presented to people and shouting out prices and raising hands. An auction, clearly. But the creatures are strange. They look like animals. Sometimes only somewhat. These are strange animalistic creatures. Chris, very curious, bends out to peer at a closer angle, trying to figure out what these beings are. He's frowning and Beth Anne sees how intrigued he is. His curiosity had been incredibly piqued, that much is certain.
"Interested?" she whispers softly.
"Yes," he murmurs."What are those creatures?"
"Fairy creatures. In a place most people would call 'hell', I suppose. This is their slave market."
"But... They do not really look like demons. More like just...weird creatures."
"Well, take a closer look!" Beth Anne giggles loudly, pushing Chris into the portal.
Brutally thrust forward and with nothing to break his fall, Chris goes tumbling into the void, straight into the fay world. The portal closes up suddenly, which means that Chris is stuck in this world. While falling, Chris also transforms, his body becoming smaller, younger and above all animalistic. Indeed, fay-like. As he falls on the floor, he is too confused and dizzy to really know what has happened. All he knows is that he's surrounded by weird noises, smells and in a world too large and utterly out of proportion. Then he's grabbed roughly by the scruff of the neck by an impossibly large hand.
"Seven volcanoes! One escaped!"
"Or tried to, at any rate," said a second voice. "Chain him with the others and that'll be that."
Before he could speak, Chris was chained at the neck and as he tried to explain he was human, he was linked to the other fay creatures on the stage. But no one listened to him. One by one, the fay creatures were showed on stage and auctioned off, after various stretches of time as prices were shouted in the audience. Chris looked around, dreading his turn. And he'd be last. Yet he also got a closer look at the creatures. They were animalistic but had also human traits. They were like a carnival of fairy creatures. And Chris noticed something else. All the creatures on auction were young. Children. Children fay. And as he heard snippets of conversations within the public, he could hear 'adoption' quite a lot. They were getting sold, but also adopted. Chris wanted to scream that he was not supposed to be here, as a human and as an adult, until he saw his own body. And he realized that he was much, much younger and had become another species. He was a fay child now. And about to be sold into a new family.
