The Magic Shop

Oliver finds the booth

Oliver was annoyed. It was his day off, his DAY OFF, and he was at the damn mall. His job had been having some lay offs recently, and one of his buddies, Phil, got sacked. Phil was devastated, and ended up spiraling into a bit of a low point. His wife was worried for him, and asked for Oliver to help.

So now he was here, looking for a gift to help his pal feel a bit better. But he couldn't think of anything. As he walked around the mall, his mind began to wonder. Looking at himself in the passing glass of the stores, he scrutinized his look. He was dressed alright, a nice flannel and jeans, but he wasn't the greatest looking man.

He was just 30, but already balding, his blonde hair fading away. He at least had a beard, but always wondered if it was why he was still single. He was gaining a bit of weight too, but it couldn't be helped with his preference in food. Oliver sighed, and continued his walk until he ran into something odd.

Sitting near the center of the mall was a crimson photo booth. It was such a bright color, and in such an odd placement that it couldn't be ignored. Oliver's eye brow raised, and looked around, as if wondering if he was about to be on some prank channel. He walked up to it, and read the name on the side aloud.
"Nu-Life?" He chuckled. "What the hell kinda photo booth is called that?"

Oliver looked around, and made sure nobody was looking before he stepped inside, closing the curtain quickly. It felt odd in there, as if outside was gone, as he no longer heard the bustle of the mall. However, the interior interrupted his confusion. There was an old screen with some brass gears for knobs and dials. It made a 'zzzt 'sound and the screen lit dark green. Bright text appeared as a 'bing-bong' noise emitted from a speaker. 'WELCOME TO THE NU-LIFE. PLEASE PICK YOUR OPTIONS.'

Oliver's eye brow raised again, looking over the screen. He turned one of the dials, and the screen changed to a list of several different options.
"What the Hell." Oliver muttered.

There were several options. He could choose ethnicities, like Caucasian, African, Asian, Hispanic, etc... There was an age option, and Oliver spun the dial, he could go from somehow BELOW 0 all the way to 115. There was a whole list of animals too, which Oliver didn't even feel like looking through, and even a gender option.

"This is crazy." Oliver muttered. "Nu-Life... like new life? Like literally new?"

Oliver wondered if this booth would actually work. If the implications of this thing were true, could he really, transform? Was that even possible. Oliver's curiosity had peaked. Worst case scenario, he'd just get a dumb photo shop job pop out and he'd laugh it off. He decided to try it out, and see exactly what would happen.

Oliver fiddled with some of the knobs, and activated the booth, and just like a regular one, it seemed to take his picture. A blue light appeared, and then turned bright white, almost blinding him. Oliver felt warm, and then the changes began.

What version of himself does Oliver turn into? How has reality changed? What is the booth's little twist on the change?

Oliver...
