"Hey, Arlo?"
Chad recognized the voice. His brother Brad must have tracked him down, and come to rescue him. Chad felt relieved, and embarrassed. He was naked, blue and reshaped into rubber tractor tire, and mounted to a tractor wheel, but he would be human soon, Brad would rescue him.
"You must be Brad. Ready to start driving my tractor?"
"Sure thing, but I'm curious how you got my name?"
"A kid at my high school told me you were looking for a job, and knew how to drive a combine. His name was Chad."
"Chad? Hm, don't know any Chads," Brad said uncertainly.
"Well, I was asking around. Maybe Chad has a mutual friend, and that was how he knew about you."
"Was Chad? Did something happen to him?"
"Uh, oh, I said was, because uh, he doesn't go to my school anymore. He is otherwise employed," Arlo said suppressing a laugh as he glanced at the blue rubber tire.
"That's okay. Just wanted to thank him."
"Jest get my fields ploughed quickly before it rains too much. Sure that'll be plenty of thanks for him, and you. Once rain starts, all this manure and soil gets super mucky. You'll be spending most of your time getting unstuck from the muck."
Chad was screaming, as his brother unwittingly sank his kid brother deeper in the manure by climbing into the tractor and adding 200 lbs of weight. Arlo bit his tongue to keep from laughing as he saw the tire formerly human stud Chad sank a couple inches further into the muck when Brad climbed up into the tractor cabin.
Vroom! The combine tractor engine roared to life. The tractor lurched backward into a heaping pile of manure coating Chad completely with the sticky muck.
"Shifter is bit stiff," remarked Brad.
"She's been idle for a while, while we waited for a new tire," replied Arlo in a somewhat annoyed tone.
"Well, I best getting out to plough the back 40, then."
Brad drove forward out the gate and across the meadow.
