Katie smirked as her more curious nature took hold. The birdboy's sneakers looked like average kids sneakers, just torn up, but she couldn't help herself. She slipped her pink socks into them, and the moment she did a strange warmth tickled through her. To her surprise, the sneakers suddenly, even magically, began to fix themselves. The rips reknit as the sneakers themselves began to alter, shrinking slightly to fit her narrower feet. The colors faded to pastel hues as the treads changed, symbols restylized. In moments, the sneakers were typical girl sneakers.
Katie stared down at them spellbound, not realizing that she had been wearing her socks and all her other clothing, and so the magic had channeled the majority of who she was into what she was wearing. Ollie, sleeping on the bed, had done the opposite, let what he wore change who he was. Katie frowned, feeling a bit confused and guilty, but also susrpised. Something had changed, and it was magic! Real magic! But at the same time, she wasn't sure why, and she had destroyed something of Jay's.
