As Willis expected, it was Farmer O'Grady, perhaps the only owner of a land-rover in the region.
He was an old man in a large, grimy overcoat and had long grey hair.
He had a reputation for being irritable.
Stunned, the farmer was frozen to the spot.
"Look, Im not gonna hurt you," Willis said, raising his hands in a cautionary gesture.
In a sudden movement, the farmer turned to his land-rover, produced a shotgun from nowhere and fired.
A sharp tranquiliser dart pierced Willis's hide.
"Hey," Willis exclaimed, "You shot me!"
The farmer shot twice more and Willis began to feel the effect of the drugs.
Another shot knocked him off his balance, but Willis never remembered hitting the ground.
