"Marching" in the Rain...

added by makutamon 6 months ago O

With February transitioning into March during the week, everyone in Lyre/Animalia and its colonies were looking forward to the end of winter. Fortunately, there were some new things to keep Animalia occupied before Spring Break.

Animalia and its colonies were subjected to a series of "trends", mainly about who was "immigrating" to Animalia. The most recent "trend" involved racial groups, though this time it was a bit more understandable. Not only were Asians migrating to Animalia, but now Ukranian refugees and Russian "deserters", which were most likely because of the Ukranian conflict, though Ukrane was now having the advantage. While most of the people getting "upset" about this, so to speak, were the xenophobic weirdos who made their rants known on social media. Fortunately, these rants were either ignored or clapbacked, especially by those who backed up their clapbacks with credible facts.

Of course, it wasn't just the Russian "deserters" traveling to Animalia. It was also Russian-Americans traveling to Animalia, due to recent "attacks" by xenophobes, paranoiacs, and weirdos blaming them for the war or accusing them of "spying" for Russia, even though the Cold War was officially over, though the War in Ukrane had the paranoiacs ranting about everything from a new Cold War to World War III.

Miles was waiting at the airport for his co-host, Lexia, after school was done for the day. He'd been Skyping with her ever since she went to Vilcabamba for the winter. She'd still been doing Animalia Ambassadoria, and had prepared a special summary episode of her stay in Vilcabamba. But before it could be shown, it had to be reviewed by the PR-MD. Fortunately, it was a nice mix of interviews with converted and uplifted Animalians, archaeological discussions, and special events in Brazil and South America.

Miss Fabina was getting in contact with the Colorado representative with which she was meeting over the newest Dinotopian colony. It was the first meeting that got her attention in a big way. The representative had sent her a link to a website that talked about gambling in Colorado, and she'd been rather surprised to learn that Colorado didn't have as strict laws as Texas did for gambling, the main requirement being that the person gambling at the casino be at least 21. However, she still needed to read up on the laws for strip clubs, mainly because of all the demands for Dinotopian porn on the website.

Finally, the cruise ship that was being donated to Mieni Atoll had just arrived. One really clever solution was being put in place while Kirana and Harold were looking over the inside. By encasing the bottom of the ship in coral-friendly concrete to just above the high tide line, it would not only prevent the bottom from rusting out, but also allow new places for coral to grow. In fact, the concrete columns of the airstrip were already starting to be encased in coral.

While the ship would still need some renovations before it could become an apartment complex of sorts, and Harold and Kirana were not experts in this matter, it was still one less problem to worry about.
