"You have not laid with a man recently enough to access your magic," Lucille said flatly. Anya's jaw dropped. "We see this sort of thing sometimes in passionate witches. Witches who pour themselves into a career, hobby, or skill often find themselves losing magic if they go too long without doing it. In your case, you love your job as a concubine, and so your magic is tied to making love."
"I..." Anya stammered, unsure of what to say.
"Do not worry. With your looks, you will be able to seduce a man in short order."
"That is not what I am concerned about. I am just taking in what you have said and..."
"And?" Lucille prompted. Anya sighed. She dropped her voice to a whisper so Jess couldn't hear.
"I worry how Jess would react to me sleeping with another man. Prince Jasper is most jealous."
"I sense another worry in you." Lucille softened her voice as well. "Is Jess demanding?"
"Quite so," Anya sighed heavily. "I wish I had made her compulsion to be constant. When we are alone, she nags me so!"
"I see. Wait here. I think I have something that will help you," Lucille said. She got up and disappeared into another room. Once she was gone, Jess spoke up.
"Anya, I really need a change."
"I will change you before we leave, do not worry. For now, try to make water so that I do not have to make more changes than needed," Anya replied. Jess got up and bent her knees into a squat. There was a soft hiss as she wet herself. Lucille returned with a jar of white paste.
"Mama, I pee-pee," Jess said, the compulsion acting on her again. Lucille patted Jess's head as she passed.
"Your mama will change you shortly." Lucille handed the jar to Anya. "This is a cream I give to mothers who have babies with colic. It goes on the area under the diaper, where it soothes itching and redness." Lucille dropped her voice to a whisper. "It also is enchanted. Any child who has this rubbed on the skin under their diaper will behave perfectly. An absolute angel. It may not be exactly what you are looking for, but hopefully the effect will be close enough."
"Thank you," Anya said in relief. "How much?"
"For you? No charge."
"Lucille!"
"I insist," Lucille said firmly. Anya rolled her eyes but took the cream. "Change your girl before you go home." Anya grabbed the bag of Jess's things. She picked up Jess and laid her on the floor to change her diaper. Jess squirmed, as she disliked being changed in front of others, but calmed down when Anya gave her a pacifier. After cleaning the mess off Jess, Anya began to spread the cream over the area that the diaper would cover.
"This will soothe your irritated skin," she said to Jess. Jess nodded, seeming pleased. Anya pinned a fresh diaper on and redressed the former Prince. She then put the sling back on and settled Jess in the sling. After saying goodbye to Lucille, Anya set off again.
During the walk, Jess was completely silent. She merely suckled on her binky happily. Anya felt relief that the cream seemed to be having some sort of effect on Jess; she normally refused a pacifier unless compelled. As she walked, Anya thought about what she would have to do to get her magic back. She would need to utilize those talents that let her rise to the top of the Prince's harem.
