Both girls began to shrink, each anticipating the outcome. Jess' shrinking stopped rather abruptly, as Mary quickly watched her head rise above her own. When Mary finally stopped shrinking, they both knew who the winner was. The yard stick was propped up against the bed, and both of them used it just to see exactly how small they had gotten. Jess had only gone down to ten and a half inches, while Mary was now a minuscule seven inches.
"Well, on the bright side," Jess shrugged. "There aren't too many animals that can make you smaller."
Mary simply stuck out her feline tongue. Jess returned to the vial box and examined the possibilities. She wanted to stick with small animals for some reason. Maybe it was the fascination of experiencing the world from a different perspective.
"Well, I'm going to choose something with wings," Mary said. "I'm hungry for both milk and cheese, but there's obviously no way I'm getting those without some way to fly up to the counter."
