Finally there was a knock on the door of the infirmary. Mrs Brown opened the door to find herself looking at a glamorous blonde woman who looked to be an older version of Ruby. “Mrs Donaldson?” she assumed.
“Well I am Ruby’s mother, but I’m up to husband number 4. I’m known as Selena Fedorov nowadays” the woman replied. “I gather Ruby is ill?”
“Yes come in. I’m Karen Brown the vice-principle. Ruby turned up at the infirmary dazed and not in her own clothes. Come see for yourself”
Mrs Brown opened a curtain surrounding the bed she had put the distressed girl into.
Gareth shrank back when this blonde MILF approached the bed. The woman stunk of perfume and her face was caked with make-up. The woman reached out with a manicured hand and felt Gareth’s forehead. “Who are you?” she asked
Selena was taken aback by who she thought was her daughter’s reaction “Ruby? You don’t recognise your own mother? What happened? What are you wearing?”
“I’m Gareth, Gareth Jones. I don’t know why I’m like this?” The girl replied
“She’s making no sense. She really needs her head checked out. I’ve been trying to summon the school nurse but she must be dealing with some other problem” Mrs Brown explained.
“My third husband is a psychiatrist. I’ll take her to his clinic.” The MILF replied. “No need to bother your nurse. Best to take Ruby straight to an expert” she then reached for Gareth’s hand “Come on Ruby. Let’s go” and eased the girl from the bed. Gareth found herself led outside and into the front seat of a pink Lamborghini parked in the no standing zone. She went without a struggle.
The quadruplets turned the corner just in time to see the Lamborghini departing. Ruby commented “That’s my Mom. What has she been doing at the school?” as the car disappeared onto the road.
Both Julia and Kim had met Mrs Federov on previous occasions. She was not easy to forget. The woman was now married to a wealthy Russian immigrant who was coy about how he made his money.
“Did you notice whether she had a passenger?” Kim asked ‘Mary’. She was fearful that ‘Jake’ may have just departed the school.
‘I couldn’t see, but the windows were tinted” the former Mr Cotter replied.
Sure enough once the girls entered the infirmary they found it unoccupied.
They closed the door behind them. “Why don’t you three stay here and I’ll make contact with the VP” suggested Kim to the other 3. “I’m thinking now it’s best that I go to the office alone. Clearly the whole school has not been turned into Rubys. I would like to keep what has happened quiet if possible but I will need to at least let Mrs Brown know what has happened. I’ll also contact my friend at the FBI”
“We could boot up your computer and start looking up possible causes of what has happened to us” suggested Mary to Julia.
“Can you find out why my Mom was here?” Ruby asked Kim.
