When looking back at the history of the mermaid virus and how it forever changed the world, no one would know the first person transformed or the first person to be a carrier of the virus.
All would agree however that while the cruise ship, the Star of the Seven Seas would be the first known outbreak of the virus which got any real attention. All researchers would agree that the 1st outbreak on this massive ship with over 5,000 passengers and all the crew needed to keep them happy would actually be traced back to the single’s bar on the ship.
Ironically the bar was named, the Mermaid’s Tap and was themed around, Atlantis, mermaids and merman and was designed as a mix of a quiet bar where singles on the cruise could come together and mingle to a sort of dance club.
To do this, the dance club area was through a soundproof door shaped like a shell. While the tables and booths were designed to only hold two or four people at most and kids under 21 where not allowed to set foot in the bar at all.
Overall, it was a big enough draw to always have a full bar on every night at sea and the staff who served ocean/mythical themed drinks often saw many people arrive alone only to leave with someone else.
On the Star of the Seven Seas 2nd night of what was turning out to be a normal cruise the outbreak would begin with those who had visited or were in the Mermaid’s Tap Bar.
