Something snapped in Riley. He had had enough.
“You know, you give Black people a bad name doing stuff like this. You’re the reason the cops watch blocks closer.“
“Is that so?“ The robber shot back. “With this mask on, how can you tell I’m not White?”
“The openings around your mouth and eyes. You’re not very smart are you?“
A man pulled a knife. “So you smart ass? Wanna get cut, smart ass?“
Riley laughed. “There’s no danger of that. I never use the N-word, but in your case I think I’ll make an exception because that’s exactly what you are.“
“I’ll show you, you stupid White privileged punk boy!“ The robber lunged with the knife.
Riley dodged, scurrying under the bed. “Wow, you’re dumber than I thought. If you cared to look, you’d notice I’m half Asian and half Jewish. So I know a little bit about prejudice, you douche bag!”
Riley bit the man’s leg from under the bed, then shot past him as he was cursing and jumping around on his good leg. “Now I’ve gotta mouthwash so I don’t get Aids from your nasty criminal-ass blood!” He locked the door and slammed it shut after himself. Grabbing mouthwash, clothes and his phone he called 911 and reported the burglar. Then he went downstairs and out the door to the neighbors, pouring mouthwash in his mouth to gargle. He used his Chronivac phone app to turn himself back in the bushes, putting his own clothes on.
He spit some mouthwash out. “Black privileged ass, think they can just rob anybody they want to!“
