(Based on the BostonRocko storyline).
It was the summer before his last year of high school started, and Alex couldn’t believe his bad luck. His parents worked in the computer tech and software business , running one of the highest profile companies in the field. They had just agree to a merger with a prestigious Japanese firm, but the sensitivity of the deal meant that they had to be there in person to oversee the whole thing…..and that meant they were going to be gone for the entire summer.
Alex’s older brother and sister were half way across the country, each having started their own careers. They couldn’t afford to talk months off to come watch him and the house, and after Alex had been busted throwing a massive party the previous spring his parents simply weren’t going to let him stay home alone. Which was where Aunt Hannah came in.
Aunt Hannah had always given Alex a bit of a weird vibe. She was his mother’s younger sister, and she’d never really settled down—always traveling around the world and seeing new and exotic places. She loved fashion too—some of the dresses she’d worn to family events were apparently worth a fortune. She’d never had any kids of her own, which is why Alex had been shocked when his parents had told him she would be staying at their house and watching him during the summer. He was the quarterback, dating the head cheerleader, practically ruled the school! Having his strange aunt watching him this summer was a definite disappointment.
The fateful date steadily crept closer and closer, and before Alex knew it a car was pulling up in front of his house with Aunt Hannah inside. He greeted her politely; he was going to have to get along with her for the next couple months, after all. Hannah seemed quite happy to see him—almost too happy, actually.
They’d never been super close, after all, and her upbeat demeanor was also a surprise. He’d remembered Aunt Hannah being a bit….distant.
Alex helped Hannah move her bags up into the spare bedroom, where she’d be staying for the next couple months, and then headed to his own room to text his girlfriend Sarah. They were planning on going out to a concert the next day, and Alex was eager to get in touch with her to see if she could come by and meet up with him tonight.
Behind the closed door of the spare bedroom, Aunt Hannah rummaged through one of her bags, pulling out a small statue with strange symbols inscribed on it. She ran a finger over them and began to softly hum to herself. Phase one of her plan was about to begin….
