Alex spent the rest of the night texting Sarah. Tomorrow night they were going to see a popular local band, and she simply couldn’t wait. Alex himself was a bit uncertain; he tended to like country music more than pop. Still, who knew? The concert might be really fun. Besides, he was going to be with Sarah the whole time, and it would be nice to do something together. Between her summer job, and his practices they had both been incredibly busy the past couple months.
Alex had strange dreams. He was at practice, but instead of being on the field with the other guys he was on the sideline? There were a bunch of girls standing near him, and his body felt weird, like there was a weight on his chest or something. Alex, grumbling, rolled over in his sleep and the dream melted away. By morning it was just a faint memory, and soon even that was gone.
Up in Aunt Hannah’s room, the statue she had placed on her dresser began to glow softly.
The next day went by pretty uneventfully, and soon it was time for Alex to get ready to head out to the concert. He got home from practice, showered, and took a nap on the couch in the living room before heading up to his room to get changed. As he headed up the stairs, though, he was intercepted by Aunt Hannah. “Going to the concert? Ohh, let me help! I studied fashion when I was in France, I know the best ways to get ready for a big event like this!” Alex was uncertain, but it certainly seemed like his aunt wanted to help, so he nodded. “Okay….” He said. Aunt Hannah clapped her hands in delight. “Great! I went out and bought you some gifts last week, why don’t you try them on?”
Alex wasn’t a huge clothes guy, but his parents had taught him to be gracious when receiving gifts, so he thanked his aunt. Even so, he really wasn’t sure about the gift she’d gotten him. It was a light blue t-shirt and a pair of tight jeans. Honestly, the clothes seemed a little…..girly. He almost could sworn he’d seen a blouse in Sarah’s closet that looked like the one his aunt was handing him. But that couldn’t be right, right? There was no way she’d mess up something like that.
The jeans were awfully tight too, Alex thought as he slid then on. Aunt Hannah must have gotten his size wrong. Understandable, given she hadn’t seen him in a while, but still pretty uncomfortable. He had to admit, though, staring in the mirror, he thought he looked pretty good.
