Toni picked up the pitcher and poured herself a cup of water. Sniffing it cautiously and not detecting any odor, she shrugged and took a sip, then walked over to the window. The view from that side of the building showed the edge of a clearing with forest beyond. While it was possible the building was on the edge of a village, from the lack of sound or any passersby, it seemed like it was in a fairly deserted location. However, it was not like Toni was aware of how big the building actually was, let alone how many inhabitants it contained.
Looking around the room again, Toni saw her backpack leaning against a wall and frowned. She wasn't sure if the half-beast had rifled through her bag, but what if he found the goblin belongings? Or her cell phone? Toni tried not to focus on the backpack in case someone was watching her, but she couldn't help but worry.
Seeing nothing that would be of use as a weapon, Toni emptied the cup of water, then held the cup in her hand in such a way that it would be relatively hidden from view. While not a very effective bludgeon, it would be better than nothing.
A short while later, there was a soft knock on the door, and the half-beast entered again, this time holding a tray with a bowl of what looked like stew and a spoon. Toni tried to keep from gripping the cup harder, and regulated her breathing to seem calm. Seemingly unworried, the half-beast placed the tray on the table and turned as though to leave.
"Wait..." Toni called out nervously, and the half-beast turned. "Who are you? What do you want with me?"
"I..." the half-beast started, his gaze averted, but the he looked up at Toni. "I..."
