After ten agonizing hours, the first baby was born.
“A fine human Prince,” Laressa said. “Now, push again!” Two minutes later, the second baby emerged. “A lovely human Princess.”
There was a flash of white light. When the light cleared, Jasper’s manhood had returned to him. Anya, who had been standing nearby waiting, handed Jasper some trousers to put on, as he had been fully nude while giving birth.
“Horse birth is far easier than human birth,” Jasper panted as he pulled on the trousers.
“Luckily, my Prince, you will not need to worry about giving birth again,” Anya said with a smile. The witch midwife handed Jasper the twins. Jasper stared at his son and daughter, whom he had given birth to. Both had the red hair that marked them as part of the Royal Family. “Congratulations on carrying and birthing your own Heir.” Jasper laughed.
“Are they normal humans?” he asked Laressa.
“For the most part. Your children will find an innate kinship with horses and may even have some ability to communicate with them, but other than that, they shall appear no different from if Boulder had been a human.”
“Good.” Jasper stroked his son’s face. “In that case, I must recapture the throne for my son and daughter.”
“What do you wish to name them?” Anya asked.
“My son will be Arrats.” The name meant “dusk” and would be in honor of Midnight’s foal with Midday. “My daughter will be Eowyn.” The name meant “horse lover” and was in honor of how the girl child had come to be.
“Lovely names,” Anya cooed. “Prince Arrats and Princess Eowyn.”
“Yes,” Jasper said. He smiled at his children. Arrats opened his eyes, revealing that one was brown and one was blue, like Boulder’s. He began to cry loudly. Eowyn opened her eyes as well. Her coloration was the same as her brother’s. She cried, too. “What do I do?” Jasper asked desperately.
“They are hungry,” Anya said. “But do not worry. We will be able to feed them without problem.”
